Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Do companies even look at the RTO fallout analyses?

They copy each other, and have been implementing the RTO as if it’s the smartest move in the world. In the meantime, all data points to it being a failed policy. First and foremost, it makes talent leave in droves. The only ‘success’ of the RTO is people quitting for free because of a long commute and increased expenses, or because they found something better and more convenient. And yet, here we are. There’s a high likelihood we are going to have it happen too.

100% it's to force attrition.

go ahead and quit then. where are you going to go? another bank that also has 5-days in office? as much as we all want to have that flexibility there wont be many companies left that do 2/days

They don’t care about any of us and we are all replaceable in their eyes and we anre an expense they would like to get rid of so they can further pad their own pockets to buy more fuel for their yachts

That being said, I do what I need to do and nothing more… I am so unmotivated it’s unbelievable. I recognize how little they care about me and I care about the firm even less.

They don’t care about you! They want people to leave. They reduce headcount without sub pay.

@a2+1jhjmgwbm employability / skill / institutional knowledge is NOT a distinguishing factor for employee retention.

Yeah they take into account attrition and I think a lot of it is that they want people to quit.
I think it’s a failed policy though because it tends to be the better, more employable people that leave for better & more flexible opportunities and those not as employable or stuck in their ways that stay.
Why work for BNY when you can have the same lack of flexibility at JPM but for more pay??

Yes. Mgmt considers attrition that they don't have to induce with layoffs a success. Reducing expenses increases profit.
