@z8 Indian managers are toxic, political and take it personally. So once they find out you are toast. Scorn , hatred, gas lighting starts immediately, the pressure goes up and you will be added to the list immediately. Has happened to many people I know. So don't tell your manager and tell the new hiring manager not to contact your old one. If the new hiring manager is also Indian it going to end up bad either ways so you access the risk!

I wonder if you were applying for other jobs because you felt your job wasn't secure. I don't think applying for a job would make you more likely to get laid off, unless you were not getting along well with your manager.

Unfortunately this has been happening for a while now. I know a few that applied internally and got laid off. Some day is because their manager no longer thinks they will give their best since they wanted to move

@dk quite the opposite, I was too good and my director su-ked. All he did was status report and kiss VPs a-s, spineless ba----d. Lucky for me already got a offer, with 30% pay increase as an principal architect. If my director gets sacked that's the end of his career as only skill he has is micromanaging and kissing his VPs a-s, which is why he was threatened when I applied for other internal roles.

Be real: to work at this company means accepting the hard fact that there is a very good chance you will be rifed. To think otherwise is just d-mb. So, this is a place to work just if you need a job. But it’s a “placeholder” place, and one would be a reckless fool to stake your future income with this company.

Since being rifed post acquisition our team members were all let go. Our “manager” was about as protective as a can of weak (purposeful spelling) old sardines left out open in the sun. Protected nobody yet always wanted to “be trusted,” the one attribute this dude - Dan H - lacked the most.

Just the bottom line. Good luck as there is a much better life after you use this place to develop skills then leave for better pay, life, and sanity.

@ae same happened to a colleague of mine. He was one of the better ones and found our work too easy. He applied for a couple of challenging internal roles in Feb and was a victim in May layoff. In the mean time we have useless POs, scrum mistress, and ladies constantly on PTO maternity, child care/health issues etc and guys that just talk about sports and politics in meeting. The person that got fired was the only other technical guy other than me and I am now dealing with twice the workload.

@a7 it did not put my on the list by itself. My manager retaliated after he found out and when it was time to send names for RIF, I was the victim despite being a top performer. Indian managers are EXTREMELY political and expect unconditional loyalty. I heard the same happened to some else from my managers peer directors team. Indian again. How is HR not seeing the sheer corruption???

Looking for a job does not put you on the list.
