Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

There goes at least 45k lines

Most employees prob have an average of 3
Lines on their account. 15k layoffs equals losing -about 45k subscriber lines - and another bunch of home internet lines.

It's almost as if an employees salary is higher than the amount of money they spend on lines.

i.e. 80K/year - $80 = $78,920 savings.

@am T-Mobile plans are cheaper than Verizon after employee discount. Some employees have been finding the out and porting away while they work here.

@aj 20k accounts - multiply 2.5 lines. That's at least 50k, if not 60k.

If leadership were smart, they would allow employees to keep their plan vs porting because everyone I know is going to do so on 11/20. Isn't a discounted line better than a port-out?

losing 45K lines for laying off 15000 is a logical thinking. Why not hire 100k people to gain 300K lines
Sampath or Joe Russo might use is as an argument.

Correction: Now 20K lines according to the latest RIF numbers.

They don’t care about employee phone program lines because they don’t generate a profit. Now, how many of us will actually keep Verizon service when we are laid off? I’m not. I’m going to T-Mobile.

@a4 excellent point

Second number and BYOD+.... Basically slammed lines. Minimal to no incremental revenue. Integrity is at the core of who we are unless we are trying to show (fake) growth.

What a complete joke!

But they have the ai to give the best deals so everyone will stay 🙄. What a sad dumpster fire. It didn’t need to be this way but leaders chose empire building and inefficiency for years and years. And they are all multimillionaires because of it. No wonder politics is in tatters now when once of the largest companies rewarded failed smoke screen business execs and now good honest working people pay the price. Disgusting.

Insignificant, how many lines do you think we actually would have lost in the last year without Second Number before it was reclassified and BYOD plus?

Until the culture around here changes and the network is improved to at least the same level as the competition, subscriber losses will continue to mount. All these cuts will accomplish is a quick boost to the share price and a little extra pocket change to subsidize false growth with, the money leaving out the back door will make the savings a wash in a year or two.
