I just took a look at this blog after some years of… not. I resigned seven years ago, after years of layoffs and many of the same complaints that I read here. If this was so obvious that long ago, my question is… why are you still here? That is a serious question, I am really interested in any answers.

I say if you left because its so toxic then move on and stop worrying about a company you arent at anymore. Wierdos
Been here basically my entire adult life and just hanging on hoping for a buyout at this point. Ironic how I used to feel that I had to prove my worth, now I'm skating along trying to prove that I am no longer needed.
I'm sticking around because I don't need to work for much longer, and I work with a great team of people and enjoy what I do.
I have FU money, which helps a lot. I remember being so stressed out back when Chainsaw Charlie was cutting our group every couple of months, but now I just don't care, I'm just doing my job and watching the fallout from all the bs policies.
Since RTO, we've lost a lot of senior people with irreplaceable system knowledge...no, wait, I'm sure Eliza can replace them, lol!
I may stick it out for a few more years, I may get canned, I may just start looking to see what's out there, but for now, I'm here.
7 years ago this place was still close to normal and benefits were good. The last 3 years have been like the movie ‘Saw’. Not saying we are tougher or better than you OP, but we had a good thing. Maybe you weren’t as lucky? But that’s why we stayed. We were comfortable maybe complacent too. But many of us are looking to escape now.
I just put in my notice and feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
It took 4+ months of steady job searching but eventually a few good opportunities started rolling in and I received multiple offers…….
Like I said. It took time so start planning now.
@bg Perfectly stated. A toxic cesspool, indeed.
Currently looking but finding another IT job in Pittsburgh that pays similarly is absolutely miserable at the moment. Even just hopping over to PNC seems like a massive pain.
I left only last month! Still watching this site .
Just reassured that leaving involuntary may not be so bad. The worst is yet to come probably!
I left too, over 2 years ago. But I spent a good 12 years at bny - I kind of want to see how things play out here for the future and this is honestly one of the better places to do so. Earlier after I left, i checked this place out to rationalize if I made the better choice of leaving. I did - given all that has been discussed. I have a few friends still left here, but most have moved on or got laid off within the last year.
Yes, it is a toxic cesspool that is getting worse rapidly. They found the bottom have decided they will be ghoulish caricatures of leaders.
Add too many C-tier Goldman washups and this is what is created. Worst leadership in industry, and anyone not job hunting is foolish
