Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Outsource Jobs, Lose Customers

American jobs belong in America—not overseas. Stop rewarding companies that outsource our livelihoods. Close your USB accounts. Make your voice count.

@hn Only open depository accounts when there is an account bonus or something. Otherwise, keep the bulk of assets in an institution that doesn't practice extreme labor arbitrage towards its citizens.

Then at the very least you can think every time you get your account opening bonus that is less money going overseas.

Ha! So now you all wake up? It has been going on for years if not decades. Just look at the other large banks like JPM or BA for examples. It is too late to protest now.

I’ve never understood why employees would open U.S. Bank accounts in the first place. Why would I want my employer to have access to my personal finances?

@OP Closing our accounts. An American bank should hire Americans. Off-shoring your data, IT, and work to the #1 cyber/scam country in the world is by design on part of the Indian CEO.

I am a “multimillionaire next door” and my investments are in one of the discount brokerages. Doing my part proudly!

Ask same other banks— they also do offshore hiring

@bm Agree. Even at the height of the cross-sell Wells Fargo scandal potential customers steered clear, but existing customers did not close their accounts. People don’t like switching banks. I doubt even 2000 employees would close their accounts in protest. Trying to stat a revolution among employees is a noble cause, but in the long run the overwhelming majority will complain, and talk big but will lay low as they just want to feed their families. I also agree that social media is the way to fight back. TikTok is the first line of fire. Also, work with your senators and the governor’s mansion in your state. I am not a fan of Gregg Abbot in Texas but applauded when he mandated that state agencies could not hire H1B. He said that those jobs should be held by Texans. Maybe that could also start a conversation about offshoring . The current administration cares less about offshoring, so good luck.

I hear you but the American consumer doesn't really care anything about their fellow American the only care about their wallet. The only way I see something changing is if some billionaire podcaster influencer or whatever who is a rare breed and actually cares about the worker, starts the vocalizing repeatedly that American companies are ki-ling American jobs and sending them over to India. And getting American listeners to care.

The bank just has too many business customers and wealth customers for them to even care about 10,000 employees closing down their measly checking account that barely stays above zero because they don't pay us sh-t.
