No idea why there are no manager feedback reviews anymore.

I have been in similar situations before. Those people who are both good at playing office politics and have strong capabilities are always at the very top (their companies are at the top, and they're the top in their companies.) Also, higher-ups who promote them are usually just as toxic as they are.

Document every contact with them and prepare to run.

I may know exactly who you’re talking about. While that person works hard, they treat people with astonishing disrespect. A comforting viewpoint is that they are in over their head (capabilities) and I will enjoy seeing them fail in their new role

@bd how do you make the arrogant assumption that this is the normal written English standard and not one used in informal chats or forums?

Perhaps (unlike yourself) one of the reasons why they're being promoted is due to possessing a rudimentary grasp of the English language, particularly in terms of writing?

You'd do better in focusing on brushing-up on your own written communication "skills", rather than focusing so much on what other people are or aren't doing.

There are always going to be schemers and je-ks in life, wherever you go.
Ignore their games, never let 'em see you sweat, and learn how to work around them.
Keep improving on yourself, and you'll move forward.
