Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Laid off but still have my laptop

Anyone else get laid off but the bank never sent for your laptop? It's been many months. I know they have NAC enabled but has anyone just kept them and reformatted?

When I went through my layoff meeting, department leadership took my BNY laptop and technology. I was in-office. About 8-10 weeks after I left, a box from BNY arrived at my address with a note requesting a return my technology.

Anyway, what I heard back was, my department leadership placed my laptop on a filing cabinet in the office and it might still be there for all I know.

It’s been a while, but I remember returning my laptop being a big deal. If I were you I would reach out and ask for them to send you the box to ship it in (the box you should have already received) and return it and just be done with it.

When I was laid off, a bi--h was waiting outside the conference room door to take my laptop and work badge and escort me out the door after more than 30 years of employment. I’m sure my former manager wanted to humiliate me but my thought was the bi--h taking me to the exit was the one who should have been humiliated. She was let go three months after I was.

Same here, mine is pretty good though. Can it be formatted to use personally?

I've been BAH for over a decade and I have 4 laptops they never collected because they didn't send a return sticker when they shipped the new one. I don't think they care.

Since you are no longer an employee, you should bill them for storage fees, your home insurance coverage and hazardous material maintenance fees. Charge them per diem since the day you were laid off. About $1499 per day ought to do it.

Just another example of how sc--wed up and disorganized the place is. They can't even throw you out without messing something up. When I was let go they told me a box would show up at my house within a couple of days and to use that box to send my equipment back. Well, weeks went by without any box showing up. Over the next several months I kept emailing the address they give you if you have any questions after being let go. No response, complete radio silence. Very similar to the reaction I got when I was working there and they asked me "what can we do to improve" :). What a joke. Well, about 4 months later and me emailing them 10 times asking if they wanted their stuff back I got a somewhat nasty email telling me that I was overdue and would be responsible if I didn't return immediately. Also very similar to my experience towards the end of my career there. You mean I repeatedly tell you there is an issue you're responsible for and that will blow up and you totally ignore me but then at the end it's my fault not yours! Too funny, and just a perfect ending to my career. My guess is someone will eventually wake up or return from their 184th smoke break and ask you to return it.

When I was let go back in 2022, they never took back the Mac.

I do understand how it fell through. After a bit of struggle they gave me a Mac for my Dell and never claimed that Dell back. The Dell was basically a desktop as I had lot of issues getting all the User Desktop Apps running on Mac. I think that was the only device that was attributed to me :) .. An unexpected send-off gift along with SUB..

I do not think they are coming after that Mac after this many years.

Actually, they do not care that you did not return your ancient laptop as its retail value is nil and information held there cannot be retrieved. Same story for your old monitor. The best revenge to extract is not to hold on to junk but make them pay $200 for sending this stuff back to them.

They sent an empty box to my home to return both the laptop and antiquated monitor within 48 hours of being let go last Monday the 19th
