Has anyone gotten updates on when the 5-day RTO for Internal Audit begins?

That copy/paste HR drivel below is comical. It's funny (yet sad) to watch HR and mgt almost break their ankles as they back pedal from RTO perspective a couple years ago - "we've asked and heard from an overwhelming number of people want to be back in the office" - to today's "RTO or be fired." It sounds almost like the people they asked the first time were all su-k-ups and sycophants who depended on the ability to leach off others instead of doing any actual work and being held accountable.

Out of one side of the leadership mouth: "ESG means we want to save the planet and do all we can do mitigate climate risk," and out of the other side: "We have the ability to excel remotely and have proven it works, but let's put a hundred thousand commuters on the roads per day and pretend emissions don't count."
They will never lay off if they can simply make enough people miserable enough to leave.

@jtny+1sqJprFI - my speed is faster at home + no interruptions from people I don't even work with since my team is not even in the U.S. anymore.

@hjzv+1sqJprFI At home in MyWork I have the identical computer and network I would have in the office. Speed is about the same.

This place has some of the WORST and most outdated technology. Anyone with a brain who works from home has a REAL office with the proper setup and that's the only reason why the RTO is unnappealing. With the BILLIONS in profits i wonder if they'll ever dip a cutip into the pool cash and make some updates to our technology

To the HR rep who thinks we only thrive when we’re all chained to our desk, I simply ask you this - how is it possible the most profitable period in Bank of America’s entire operating history, was when nobody was in the office? Your theory is proven to be incorrect by pure historical fact. This is a bank. Intelligent profit is job #1, or we don’t live to see another day.

I also ask you this - given the level of “wokeness” this bank has, how do you justify your stance on environmental ESG, carbon neutral, climate change awareness, when you are forcing nearly 200,000 people to commute every day? Seems a little counterintuitive doesn’t it, especially in light of record profits recorded and happier team when WFH was the norm? Fact is, the only ones who want RTO5, are the mid-level hacks whose job it is to just micromanage their team. The glorified local branch manager who has nothing to do but to act like they’re more important than they really are. We all know who those people are. They’re the ones who know how to actually do nothing, yet act like they do everything.

Seeing as we have a flex seating environment (in most Audit locations), there’s not enough space (i.e. desks) for all employees to return 5 days a week. I would assume that if we were required to come in 5 days RTO, our office would have to be renovated / additional floors added - people would have to have desks with monitors to sit at etc. Not sure I see that happening, especially since several offices just got updated to go to flex seating.

Working from the office facilitates real-time, face-to-face collaboration and communication among audit team members. This is particularly crucial for complex problem-solving and when dealing with sensitive information that requires immediate attention and discretion.

The sensitive nature of audit work often involves handling confidential company data. An office environment can provide more secure networks and systems, reducing the risk of data breaches that could occur with remote work setups.

Having the audit team on-site ensures that all members are working within the same structured environment, which can lead to more consistent work practices and output. It also ensures that team members are readily available during business hours, providing reliability to other departments and stakeholders.

Being in the office allows for more direct mentoring and oversight, which is beneficial for the professional development of less experienced team members. It also fosters a learning environment where knowledge is shared more freely.

Regular office attendance helps maintain and strengthen the corporate culture. It allows audit team members to be more aligned with the company's values and mission, and fosters a sense of belonging and team unity.

In conclusion, while remote work offers flexibility, the unique demands of the corporate audit function are better served by a full-time office presence to ensure effective collaboration, data security, consistency, professional growth, and cultural integration.

Our team/org was just granted more WFH days.. so seems like they’re going in a direction that is favorable to what we actually want.
