I was laid off in 2004, after almost 10 years with BSDT/Mellon, the last couple years (post 9/11) walking on eggshells as I saw colleagues' jobs being transferred to India. I occasionally like to read BNYM posts on this site as confirmation that the company and its leaders lost their way years ago. But, sometimes a taste of nostalgia creeps in and I daydream about the good times I had with good people. Ohhhh...to have the Frank Cahouet days back.....

@lebr+13SKclJz ... don't mince words, tell us how you really feel. However, I am in total agreement.

I stalk this site (your words not mine) to keep an eye on how poorly this pathetic company is doing and live for the day that I see it completely crumble. I live for the day that the overpaid Executives fall flat on their faces and feel the pain they caused so many hard working, devoted, underpaid employees. I want to see this company written up as the disaster it is. I want this company to die a slow, painful death. I hope it is facing fines for negligence (which I am sure it will since they let go all qualified workers) to the point they never recover. They deserve nothing but the worse life can offer. Karma is a b–ch.

Sounds like a lot of people I know. Funny thing is, if you somehow managed to not get laid off you'd be forced to work from home now anyway. You were ahead of the game man.

After working at BNY for less than 1 month I knew the place was severely fucced. I tried my best though. I'm usually the go to guy on a team, the one they give the hard problems to. I care about the work I do. All of my enthusiasm was ground to dust within 3 months.

The application architect and manager of the group I worked with went out of their way to ensure nothing improved. The project manager never pushed back on the business and said "yes" to everything they asked for. The product owners actively fought against giving us requirements. Everything the team does is doomed to fail or barely limp across the finish line in a clown car. And senior management has absolutely no clue what they're doing, evidenced by the whole "greenfield" thing.

After the reality of this fully sank in, I just gave up. My soul had been crushed. I needed the paycheck and there frankly aren't that many high level tech jobs in this town, so I just quit caring and did the bare minimum to get by. I wasn't about to drive myself insane trying to maintain my usual work standards at this place.

After I made it past the initial hire "probation" period, I stopped coming into the office altogether. I decided I'm a full time work from home employee. Nobody really noticed for almost 4 months. I got an exceeds expectations review at mid year. The boss eventually noticed and began pressuring me to come into the office, so I started interviewing for other jobs. I never came into the office for the last 6 months I worked at BNY except to turn in my laptop and badge.

I had a few job offers lined up by the time I was laid off. I saw it coming from far away. As expected, I got a BE rating at the end of the year. In fact I was expecting to just get fired and was pleasantly surprised when I was laid off instead. I took a nice long paid vacation on BNY's dime and then accepted one of the offers I had waiting for me.

Why do I still haunt this forum? Schadenfreude. BNY caused me so much frustration and misery. I frankly find it absolutely hilarious to watch this place fall apart piece by piece every day. This was the worst job I've had in my professional career. I take great personal joy in watching the inept leadership at BNY steer their ship aground.

No one has to explain why they follow or comment on this site. If you don't like the comments of current and former frustrated BNY Mellon employees, then don't visit this site and read these posts. No one is forcing you to.

I worked for BNY nearly twenty years. Many overnights and weekends on great teams doing intense projects. We were all in it together! And many of us expected to work like that for this company for the rest of our careers.

At some point, the Company no longer valued or cared about that sort of dedication and hard work. But it takes us a while to give up on our teams and our projects. It’s hard to get such intensity and dedication from employees, and it’s hard to turn it off.

For me, visiting this website is a reality check about why we no longer work for this Company. We didn’t become deficient workers, the Company became a bad, nonsensical employer.

Sometimes its good to be reminded of that.

@pnf+13SKclJz – or should I say No Scrote – you really don't understand the internet, do you? Visiting a forum to read people's replies is just how forums work. If you think that's "stalking" that says way more about your ignorance than anything. But keep posting, every forum needs that one punk that everyone clowns on.

Exactly the problem. I really don't have a life. I just get the satisfaction of doing these posts, talking about the deep state on fb, and watching fox news most of the day. The thing is I used to get paid for doing this on remote days, but now I don't.

@@gnv+13SKclJz, what’s so funny about someone having a stable job ? Mad because you haven’t been able to stay somewhere that long? Don’t like working at BNY go elsewhere, but make sure to keep us updated on how great that place is. Childish

People making on-topic comments on a public forum is apparently "stalking". Today I learned something.
