Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

In office time tracking

Just heard from a very reliable source that this dump will begin piloting badging out of the building… So they will be tracking hours and not days eventually. Not sure what locations this is being piloted at or when it will start, but just another example of making life at this place more miserable And authoritarian.

Even crazier is as they take things away from us and make it worse, Workload continues to pile up due to massive understaffing.

And yet “This Dump” pays you to come into the office and work, even as you brag about getting over on the man and gaming the system.

Nothing at this bank makes sense… Doesn’t make sense for me to have to go in for five minutes even since everybody I deal with is in another location

Not sure who the reliable source is, this is fear monger most likely.

Our working situations are so different; I do not work with anyone in the office for example, all the people I deal with are either in other states or countries.

Why would I be in the office all day, it makes no sense,..

Some locations don't even have a system for you to swipe out. So unlikely they can even do this

To those RTO refuseniks…. Thank you for your service in getting fired for cause so that those of us who follow the rules can remain safe and secure. I cannot think of a more selfless action.

Even as the failed layoff rumors continue to mount the total Bank employee count continues to grow.

If facts still matter…

@1nbs Both are issues. I’m still confused why you don’t think there are layoffs? How can a campus go from 3 buildings to 1 if there are no layoffs and others locations do the same or completely close at the same time? Layoffs are not at record lows BNY just does a good job hiding it.

So I guess you will no longer swipe at one turn style to come in so it shows that you at least made an effort, then make a left and go around the elevator Banks, go through those turnstiles and then go home. Ha-Ha su-kers.

OP, this company is more totalitarian than it is authoritarian.
Authoritarians can be good. You can have leaders that inspire you to step up. Think president Bukele in El Salvador.
Totalitarianism on the other hand comes from a place of insecurity. You have a bunch of weak incompetent people who project their own weakness on everybody else. They want to micromanage everyone and create a bunch of NPCs, more slavery, more dependence. These are the globalists, the WEF, and the BNY types.

@mis good point. When I started working here we were paid full time for a 35 hour work week. Then it jumped to 37.5. Now 40, and I never got a raise, but my staff did. During that time they got rid of the pension and now only match the 401k annually. Cheap a-s company. As we learned though they will give benefits that don’t cost them anything and allowing us to WFH is one of them so boomers mind your business you’re retired or soon will be.

Don’t have to tell them. We brought them up to have a Boomer work ethic and they’re all thriving.

Oh… I dunno 42.
When I agreed to work here, the bank also agreed to have my 401(k) matched each pay, I work in Pittsburgh and it was a 37.5 hour work week, etc. so it goes both ways toughguy.

One of the things I learned about working for Megabank is that everything is measured. And what gets measured gets managed. If they can use metrics against you, they will.

You Just heard from a very reliable source that this dump will begin piloting badging out of the building… After they’ve been announcing and tracking you for over two years?

Dude, two full years of your metrics are literally measured and done. Pilot started three years ago. Hopefully you came to work….

Heres a piece of advice. Go to f-ing work like you’re paid to. Why tf did you accept a position with in office requirements if you're going to resist them then bi--h when there are consequences? Stfu

That doesn’t make sense. They already do this because they technically track both badge swipes and IP address to see if you’re in the office. So all they need to do is see how long you were at your work IP address. I know they track both because of conversations I had with HR.

It goes without saying that our employees are apparently now learning life lessons which boomers learned from childhood employment to 16 year old first jobs at the latest. Nobody is going to tolerate petulant entitled children.

Right about now the folks who were so adept at gaming the system under Todd’s leadership during COVID and afterwards became militant anti-RTO warriors are about to realize that all data was tracked

It’s not going to be pretty when so many are displaced for cause.

What we need next is a uniform dress code. Enforce UPS style uniforms- brown shirts and brown pants along with those paper soda jerk server hats from the 40’s. And have your comit id sewn on to the hat and shirt - at employee expense. That would sum up the whole experience!
