Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Is there a future for Project Managers?

It looks like Schwab is only hiring PMs close to retirement. Younger PMs are forced into becoming RTEs or Scrum Masters, and/or not being promoted.

What's up? Leadership continues to say here will always be a need for PMs, but that the actions do not support this.

The plan is to only have a handful of Project Managers/Program Managers a year from know. Primarily for large enterprise projects/programs.

The purge has already started.

Plan accordingly!

No, there is no future for PMs. Never has been. Schwab does not know what Project Management is.

It’s a cycle. Schwab has tried to get rid of PM staff for decades. AI is no different. Self managed teams are no different. Agile no different. PM will be let go and then brought back to fix the mess. Like DC really. And the PM experts aren’t appreciated either.
