Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

separation with severance

Has anybody successfully orchestrated their exit… Meaning, wanted to get let go, was performing, well, decided to purposefully, not care & therefore work less, resulting in less productivity, and They got let go and got severance

I’ve been here long enough that I want my package, but I can’t stand the weaselly weak management, and dumpster fire of a company

@5vln

I’d just love to hear the real rest of the story on this @5vln one.

SUB pay not severance...just another cheap shot as they walk you out of the door. I found the best way to get laid off is to do a really good job...apparently they don't like performers.

@ytv

I know of nobody who left on their own, was pipped or simply displaced who is not far better off today.

A friend of mine worked there for 10 years in IT, then got RIF'd. He hated the company but was a good worker (strong work ethic). Not sure how they made the decision to cut him, but he's now with a much smaller company and people there actually know his name, and there's not a bunch of id--tic mid-level mngt. He's much happier!

Most people who successfully orchestrate their exit have a conversation with their manager to let the mgr know that they would volunteer to be let go with a SUB if a layoff is planned.
This could backfire if you don’t trust your manager.

Be careful or you may get a pip and go instead.
