Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

People, don't panic

And most of all, don't do them any favors and quit right now! I think that's the main goal of this: to get as many people to walk away as they can. A lot of things can change in a month. This latest RTO notification is not written in stone and it shouldn't be taken as such. Give it some time and see what happens. I am certain there'll be further delays.

The corporate office is not a "learning environment". If you want to "learn", I suggest that you go back to school. People are hired to work and in today's world, people can work from anywhere.

One Broadway show after another keeps closing (temporarily so far but all are due to break through Covid cases). If the cast and crew are getting Covid from the audience (I’m guessing but I’m sure that’s not always the case) that seems to be spaced a fair distance away and wearing masks, how are our offices not rife with positive cases?

@tjp+1ej8quJC Completely agree with your sentiments… But the goal of RTO isn’t to make us happy, it’s actually quite the opposite. SLT is using RTO to force many to resign as part of a broad cost cutting move. It’s the same concept behind ending the MyWork program years ago. RTO is basically a reduction in force initiative… employees resign, no severance is paid, Bank creates significant payroll reductions… “Responsible Growth”.

The same pro RTO is back and making multiple posts disguised as different people.

Maybe its time for a new job? It just sounds like you really despise having to interact with people.

You sound like a miserable person. If you hate working with your coworkers and coming into an office setting, no one is forcing you to stay. I find it bizarre that you feel you are owed WFH just because you don't want to RTO. If you want to WFH so bad, why don’t you look for that type of opportunity? Get over yourself. It’s just a job.

So you live in a binary world where people are either lazy or they are excited to RTO, and you see RTO as the only way to move forward. Have I got that right? So from your statements I'm going to go ahead and assume you are younger than I am. Let me assure you that live gets a whole lot less black and white as you get older. Everyone is an individual and everyone has a reason for their opinion and view of the company and the world. You do not know the path another person is on so it is inappropriate for you to impose your world view on others. Some folks just need a a place to vent and could never do that in an office setting. Some folks are older, some are scared, some who have a been here a while are just tired of the pendulum swings. The company pushed us out the door to do My Work quoting all kinds of studies saying that in the future "work" is a thing you do, not a place you go. Then reversed course, for no reason other than they had real estate to fill that was acquired during those forced mergers during the collapse. My work was successful and I personally was an exceeds/exceeds employ through out. I viewed it as a great thing the bank was doing and I wanted to work harder to maintain the opportunity to WFH. By forcing folks into the office who work better, perform better, in many cases collaborate better (think introverts) you create create an environment where folks just come in, mark time, watch the clock and leave. We do not live in a one size fits all world. We are told to bring our whole selves to work. But apparently we now mean that you should only do that if you are a Type A extrovert who can only fathom being productive in a group setting.

You summed it up quite well. Most of the people complaining about RTO are just plain lazy, they are not concerned about the virus as much as they want to WFH, get paid like they are in the office and have no accountability for being employed by a company that promotes team work and collaboration, both of which are better achieved in person in a learning environment called a corporate office. Video conferencing doesn’t replace real life, it never will.

Yes, Covid and subsequent variants are most likely here to stay. Nothing anyone can do about it. WFH is over and its time to face the fact that life goes on, we have vaccines now, if you choose not to be vaccinated that is fine, but don’t expect the rest of us who got vaccinated and are moving forward are going to want to listen to you complain. It’s called life, you deal with it and move forward or you can go search for a WFH job where you can hide in your ho-e and never face the world.

Either way, your desire to WFH is not going to happen at the Bank. Get over it. That’s life. If you don’t like it here, someone else will gladly take your job and come into the office to work rather than complain about everything from your coworkers to your commute. Time to look in the mirror, the problem is you. People have had to do things like work for centuries and had far worse scenarios to deal with. Most of sound pathetic with your constant nagging about work conditions. Plah-eeeeease. We have it so easy in America, especially in corporate office jobs.

WFH is over. Covid is never going away. New variants constantly. Adapt or get left behind. It’s not that difficult, people. No way they shut down again, you can bank on it.

I hope you’re right but sadly I disagree. Delta is deadly and hasn’t stopped them or changed anything for RTO.

Ya ever wonder if you’re wrong about being so afraid of Covid? It’s not the end times, vax or not, Covid is here to stay like every virus before it. If it starts ki----g everyone, WFH won’t stop it, it’d be Armageddon before we got to that stage. We’re all going to die someday, and rotting separated from society at your house, afraid of something invisible will just drive you nuts. Covid practically lives in the air now, it’s on every surface, and it’s definitely in your home already, returning to office simply connects you better to people so you stop being paranoid and calling the bank the devil. Corporations have always been about money, this shouldn’t be news.

I believe their push comes with ulterior motives (getting us to quit and walk away without a severance), that's why. I might be wrong, though. We'll see.

Why are you certain? Since this push to RTO started they haven’t wavered or taken a step back. It seems their sole focus is getting us back in.
