Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Go to the media

Please go to your local media after you are displaced. Your package will say if you go to the media we will hang you or something but no reporter will ever out you. People must know what is going on at this disgraceful company. I wish everybody the greatest success.

Actually it might be a good time for Americans laid off to speak out, especially if their job was outsourced.

Google letter signed by American CEOs, including Charlie, from the Business Roundtable, stating they are committed to putting American workers and Communities on par with shareholders. CNBC and CNN cover it as well.

Are they, call them out, it is in the press, so you'll never get a better chase. Gotta use the moment when you get it.

In markets where bny is a major employer, or thought to be a major employer, like Pittsburgh, it would absolutely be a relevant story. In a smaller less relevant market it would not be a big deal.

This is certainly not good but we only fool ourselves by thinking that BONY is typical of “layoffs across the industry right now.” Competition has always worked this way. Some banks successfully managed the disruptive changes in technology over the past 20 years and they are now the big winners. These “Fintechs” are efficient, quick to react and doing just fine. They shed staff naturally through attrition as they gradually became ever more efficient after successful targeted investments. This cannot be done overnight in 2 or 3 years.

Go to the media for what??? The general public doesn’t care what happens at BNYM. There are layoffs across the industry right now and the news is full of global level insanity. Look, I think this company is c**p too but let’s get real. This is not a newsworthy story.

I don't know if it was your or not, but I saw somebody displaced right before Xmas in Pittsburgh. It was going on in a glass conference room where everybody could see. I told my manager because we had never seen displacements before (we merged from a boutique that didn't have layoffs in our area). We assumed it was a firing because of the time of the year. My manager was making goofy comments about the hr rep and wondering if the firing was for s-xual harassment or something. Oddly enough, that same hr rep was in my meeting with my 2nd level manager about three weeks later.

I was let go just before Christmas and I had exceptional reviews for over 15 years. No one even believes me that a company would push you out at this time of the year. We helped save the firm post 9 /11 recieving accolades and rewards. Did these people even have moms and dads that taught them how to treat people? Disgraceful doesn't begin to describe.
