Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

EMEA

In my team there are so many people off sick due to work. The manager heading this team was a disaster an absolute waste of space. We had a great team but he managed to destroy the team and then changed roles. That didn't stop him from sending work my way. A new person who joined the team has been complaining about how the team is run and how the senior manager in the US doesn't care about the team. I cant wait to retire. I wont have to put up with incompetent managers like this.

Stress is a really serious issue and should not be ignored. Get yourself to a doctor to get signed off, and then call a lawyer. No one should have to be subjected to the behaviour that BNY puts employees through.

That is constructive dismissal. If your manager is treating you badly to make you resign you need to get in contact with a lawyer. Document everything.

Managers have been told to more or less treat staff badly in order to push them out. They all have targets to reduce headcount with no expense to be business.

Sounds like high time for an 8 week holiday.

They blow it all off in 2 weeks in the States but they do pass away decades earlier than in EMEA. Don’t tell management about those calculations or they’ll move EMEA, India and Poland jobs to the states.

Look on the bright side, you are close to retirement. Hang in there.

Let's remember people that Diversity and Inclusion are key here at BNYM. This is not only important but necessary for our culture. Do not worry about layoffs or stress. Those are just not as important.

Senior management couldn't care less about employee stress. I've heard them BS about it. Oh we are aware and we are looking into this. It's BS. They don't care. Most of them have been with the bank for years and are only interested in saving their own skin. Probably because they know if they left and joined another bank they wouldn't pass their probation. They dont have the skills and knowledge to succeed.
