Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Ready to just quit

I'm not sleeping. I'm not able to think clearly during the day because of lack of sleep. I'm frustrated and annoyed that I am creating process solutions and doing multiple jobs outside of my responsibility while others around me have personal conversations three hours out of the day (managers and their pets). They benefit from all the work I'm doing and so it makes it easier to do their job yet I'm pressured to move forward more quickly. My manager doesn't realize I know that people have gone to her and the manager above her to acknowledge the extra work I've been doing. Even submitting WOW awards that have been rejected. She's not said a word to me to pass along any sort of recognition because she simply doesn't "like" me. She would rather set me up for BE, if there is any littlest infraction she can find , such as not filling out a 1:1 template she created, even though it has no bearing on actual work and was never listed as required. It's a shame when a bad manager can purposely choose to lose a valuable employee all for the sake of guarding her clique and ensuring her longterm safety.

What should a contractor do if they are being treated in the same way? I've witnessed some serious bullying.

Don't quit, let them let you go. In the meantime, do little to nothing task wise...don't work for the bank let the bank work for you.

I totally can relate to the writer here. This has become such a dead end job it's just sad at this point. I have not been actively looking for a new job. But. It's time.......... I cannot let this companies greed continue to hurt me, or bring me down to their level.

Slow down!

Don’t do more than you should and then blame BNY. You could be enabling them, and this toxic environment. The other employees around you might know that, which is why they do less.

BNY does NOT appreciate you, and will continue to take advantage.

Good luck!

You need to go off sick if you aren't sleeping well. You will still get paid. I know of many people who are on sick leave due to mismanagement. If work doesn't get done it's not your fault. This place really is full of bullies. This place is about who you know not what you do. They will set you up for a BE to get rid of you.

I was in the same position doing similar things you mention. My advice to you, stop. Don’t do anything extra no one gives a f—. Your just wasting time during your day. Just know that you have that capability. Hope to get LO and find a job that appreciates those skills and get paid more too. Do the bare minimum. Don’t let this place stress you like that. Not worth it.

It sounds all too familiar The bad manager who excel at surrounding himself/herself with a couple of henchmen. They form a pack and it's not long before bullying starts. Subtle at first, but soon it will be a mob rule. They usually are driven by ego, and produce very little of value. This tone was set from the top and therefore the cancer is well established in BNYM.

Welcome to BNYM, lots of people in the same position as you. Too many middle managers delivering nothing along with these so called project managers who quite frankly are useless.
