Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

So Many Unhappy People

I’ve been in IT for 25 years. Worked for this company for 5 of those years. I can honestly say that I have never seen so many unhappy, fearful employees during my entire career. Very sad to see what our new executive management has done to this company in a very short period of time.

The forced BE ranking and frequent terminations have left employees fearful and numb. Applications no longer have adequate support. Experienced employees are being terminated, retiring sooner due to the working environment, or just quitting. Remaining staff are being dumped on which will lead to them getting a BE performance review.

This company has created a ticking time bomb for itself and it’s clients. Just a matter of time until BNYM makes the news again for the wrong reasons.

Offshoring to India or Poland allows a high standard of standardness. Scripts will be followed to a “T”, no exceptions. The needful will be done. The 20% of customers who call with stupid questions will rate support at five stars. The 80% who call with real issues will be totally dissatisfied and more likely to delete survey requests and quietly move on. B2B2C businesses will complain to our clients and we will continue to lose them.

Some, likely most, of the non US representatives would love to give better service but are culturally obedient and will follow the script. I guarantee that none of our Senior Management have ever called an internationally outsourced help desk and that none out of their teams of admins would ever surface the hurdles they faced in fear of being viewed as incompetent.

Undercover CEO anyone?

Nope, it is one of the reasons for outsourcing. Whether it is India or Poland, you have like minded people. Here in America where we have everyone, it is harder to manage, especially if you are a poor manager, which most are, so to avoid all these issues, just outsource.

Isn't this discrimination by race? Would they give you disclosure of race and gender during lay off or just age?

I just saw a BNY Mellon posting on the India Tech and how they have jobs, training them and how eager they are to contribute to BNY success.
It was posted by BNY so I really don't think they care how American workers feel.
