Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

You are lucky to get a separation package. They would not lay me off, I had to just quit. What a strange company when the laid off people are the “lucky” ones.

My location was loaded with H1-B’s, etc. , even the vendor reps were Indian. And, as someone mentioned, they make it a point to NOT share information. The offshore team operated the exact same way. It would be interesting to document this kind of enterprise IT culture. The nonsense I’ve observed during my tenure was astonishing. I’ve never experienced similar in a lifetime of IT work.

L1 guy is opening up now to promote themselves, HA HA!!! FUNNY!!! YOU are not here to train, YOU are here because for YOU coming to U.S is everything!!!. A dream come true!!! If these L-1 are put in a locked room and ask them tech questions, everyone will fail. What kind of knowledge transfer you are here to give? You hide every single details and your manager in India makes sure they do not share to US team, so that they can prove themselves superior in front of those incompetent manager here in US by feeding non sense. You are the reason Bank is k–ling IT ecosystem within the bank with no option. Your YouTube knowledge is k–ling you and everyone in the company.

The company isn’t supposed to be protecting citizens as they contribute by paying taxes. The company is supposed to be making profits for its shareholders. L-1 Visas are an intelligent way to transfer non-immigrant captive (tied to the company & allowed into the country for the short visa period) employees to US for knowledge transfer, organizational learning, technology training and yes, learning jobs that can be moved home with them to their home country.

Keep in mind that we are all employees and take advantage of the time together by getting to know them. I have met some amazing people here on L-1 visas.

Yes, it is beautiful when an employer recognizes all stakeholders and aligns policies with the good of the country, the health and good of long time employees and to produce tax paying citizens. That is not where we are. The cost savings of L-1 and job shifting are probably necessary for long term survival.

Good luck, I know the feeling. Took me awhile but changed my life for the better. Now I elevated my career to new heights.

I'll be disappointed if I don't get laid off next month. I went from 9-to-7 to clocking out at 4:30 for the last two quarters. Maybe my manager is so busy watching TV from home that he doesn't even notice.

Not buying the big dec 2 layoff. We're too shorthanded already in my group. No backups for year-end vacations. And boards been very quiet considering. You would think it would be lit up with info being this close.
