Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Cause for concern??

So the other day, I learned my department VP needed access to my performance profile as they needed to see my forms in my profile. Could this be a sign I may be one of the 2500 that may be getting shown the door on December 2 or is what they did normal since the review process is just starting up for the end of the year?? Thoughts??

No need to worry. It takes a lot of time to truly assess your ranking. If managers up the chain take enough interest to request and review your files you’re likely being considered for a major promotion or bonus . Hard work pays off.

There are no coincidences these days.

I don't know how you could not be concerned. Hope it doesn't mean anything bad.

The list for December 2 is already decided. It takes longer than a couple of weeks to pull all of that paperwork together.

We were told last week that we all had to enter comments in the end-of-year section of the annual review form. I think they're going thru everything and picking the people who'll get the ax on Dec 2.

Maybe your boss is being eliminated and his boss will be doing your pending review, so is getting a head start.

They are evaluating your performance to see if there's a way they can justify putting you on below expectations. If they cant justify it, then they will just put you on below expectations anyway because that's what they do. The manager probably has a buddy buddy that they want to promote, so you'll take one for the team so they can get promoted. That's how it works. Start looking.
