They will, however, be permitted to receive their fabricated review in the convenience of their homes, since remote working arrangements will remain in place (at the discretion of managers).

Forcing manager to lie about performance is not only unethical it is dangerous as it breeds a culture of liars. For a financial institution that has their hands in every aspect of not only the American economy but most of the world – unethical behaviors of creating false reports should be intolerable, but BNYM encourages it. Modeling Enron management practices is not where America should be trusting their money.
Noticed that they failed to relay the video bec clearly they admitted to the force ranking. If pushed out due to these forced BE, sue the manager and company!

Very disappointed in Todd's response here–no guts to take his own stand. Would like to know if his managers, sitting with him on stage, would also be forced ranked? Todd, please reveal the BE amongst this group–as every team needs to be ranked. Maybe it's Mike–which may explain how unhappy he looked sitting in the corner.
Everyone else on stage looked tuned out and sleepy. They were probably p-ss-d that they were missing a networking event to get their next job.
The question was phrased to him: "Will you discontinue the required BE ratings given to people that don't deserve them?". His answer was "No, we need to continue to drive excellence". He just acknowledged that BNYMellon has forced ratings and that people are not rated fairly or based purely on measured performance. I guess HR needs to sit down with him to polish up his talking points.
