Looks like about 50 being let go every week....and has been case for some time. Engineering cuts by delivering BE to people over 40. Horrible place to work. No leadership. No morals. MILK IT FROM NOW ONWARDS.
I have had colleagues let go while working from home. They get a call from HR and their network connection drops.
They will absolutely let you go over the phone. I was out of the office for a funeral and they called me that afternoon and released me over the phone. Read through all the required HR stuff then sent it to me overnight mail. When your number is up, they will get you one way or another.
I know for a fact they let go over the phone. My colleague was on vacation and was called.
Should have gone to work...
It’s easier if you are in the office because then they don’t have to deal with you returning your badge and computer after the fact but that’s it. They’ll get you regardless of where you are if you are on the list.
Of course they can let you go over the phone. Based At Home staff who are nowhere near an office are handled this way all the time. Silly to think you have to be in the office to be made redundant.
I know first hand of employees let go over the phone. It can and will continue to be done.
Told ya, told 5000 over the phone jeez
Last year my manager called everyone into the office for an "all hands on deck" meeting in the morning, even the ones who normally worked from home. He just said a bunch of fluff and status updates, but in the afternoon he called a few team members one at a time to the HR dept.
I believe the only reason you'll get called is if you're on vacation on your designated layoff day, otherwise they'll try to get you physically into the office.
I don’t believe this either. There is too much HR paperwork that they go over with you, talk to to you about next steps. They wouldn’t/couldn’t do it over the phone.
BNY Mellon can let go over phone that is fact . Happened to me few months back . But found higher paying job locally before severance . Wish you all the best .
They call you over phone..
I call BS - you were ‘told’ 5000 ? By whom ?
BNY will, and has, call you at home if you’re not in the office that day. Two people that got let go we’re both home at the start of their vacations and HR called them. That’s low, but what is even lower is letting people go at the start of the holiday season. To do this means you have no soul.
You must be in a larger office. I'm in a smaller office and they have let people go over the phone. We don't have HR on our location.
Highly doubt they would let you go over the phone, even for BNY Mellon.
Where?
Same....shocked
What location?
