Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Is it really different elsewhere?

I understand that the situation here is bad and people have had enough, but do you really think it's better elsewhere?

Name a bank with better working conditions that BNYM? I'll wait.

You can't because this is it. This is industry-wide, and nobody can deny that.

If you want a better job, don't hope you'll find it at another bank.

It is better elsewhere. BNY is sub-standard in many respects. Low pay, many disinterested managers with no idea how to manage people or what function they manage. New managers who bring in their cronies and never bother to even meet existing employees, let alone get to know what they do. Too many administrative and managerial levels. Not enough people to do the actual work. And the way staff reductions are handled is nothing short of shameful. “Skip level” meetings are basically a dream. Yes, there are many better places.

The problems are industry wide except you don't get garbage pay, that's why bny don't mind slackers because they got what they paid for

I think the point is people need to move out of banking completely because the problems are industry wide

Don’t leave BONY, you don’t get same work life balance anywhere else. And yes you might get fired as anywhere else because its highly competitive than BONY! Because you can not feed BS cause managers are highly technical. Stay as long as you can, have all the fun...

Moved to TD wealth and I love it. Complete 180 from BONY.

Lol, things are better when you are compensated for it. I guarantee you'd get laughed at if you tried to valuate yourself in terms of salary during your first initial interview elsewhere because you'd ask for something too low. That's how underpaid bny is.

I loved working at Citigroup. It was a well managed company. Actually received bonuses there.
