Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

240 Greenwich Street

In addition to having to work in one of the most horrendous, disgusting companies in the world with nothing but absolute fluff in positions (undeserving titles) I have to address 240 Greenwich. What a dump. The whole open space working environment had me sick to my stomach every day. I had to watch overpaid executives all day do nothing but s— up to people above them while the less paid people did all the work. The constant germs I was exposed to in this so called collaborative work environment was a joke. I am happy to say I am no longer there. It's a cesspool of an environment made up of cowards in charge. I wish this company nothing but the worse.

The King of Prussia building is a nightmare. Mold, sewer gas, and the it quality is so bad that half the employees there are sick. Building should be condemned.

I was with the company for over 30 years. I was always a top performer and thought I was safe. My manager called me into her office and told me my "position was eliminated". So top performers... beware. What really got to me was that I saw my position listed on the BNYM job board. From my managements perspective, I was in a high cost center (NYC) and at the top of my salary range. That was enough to make to an excellent candidate for termination. They'll find some other poor sap to do the job for less money. That's all that counts.

Been out since May 2018 and enjoying my free time and the fact that I don't have to deal with the ugliness of BNYM. BNYM was at one time a great company. Mismanagement and corporate greed has brought them down. Good luck to the survivors. They're the ones that I really feel sorry for.

In reference to the KOP building. I was in that building from the beginning in 2003. From the start there were problems with air quality, water seepage, plumbing, etc. It was a bad day when you walked in and had sewage odors. Open concept = terrible working conditions.

You haven't worked in King of Prussia, PA apparently. An old Sears warehouse converted to office space, no windows, and infested with bed bugs.

What this company did to so many long term, hard working individuals is unforgivable. They are heartless and deserve the worse. I don't want to hear that I need to wake up and realize this is the state of financial institutions today. They showed the door to the best the working world has, yet kept undeserving jokes around (mainly because they were in the know). It's a shameful company.

While I share your sentiment about the company, I wish the best to the survivors still there. Over the years working at BNYM I had a lot of great co-workers and a lot of great managers that I now call ‘old school managers’. Unfortunately most if not all such managers are long gone from BNYM.
