Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

What a horrible organization.

I am so glad to be away from this nightmare of a place to work. The idea of hard working individuals living from month to month, week to week, and day to day having to worry that their lives will be turned upside down because they may be walked out the door is disgraceful. BNY Mellon should just dissolve. It's been a failing institution for some time with overpaid fluff and underpaid hard working individuals who actually care about doing their job instead of impressing executives with fake persona.

Wells Fargo is in the news again for control issues and in the article a gov 't agency said they had a backlog of 3000 HR complaints not handled yet.

Wonder if BNY has any or people just post here.

Management is a joke. They couldn't even do a low level junior job. Let's get real.

I just laugh at what lemmings management is. They cling to whatever the new buzz word is and run full speed with it no matter how non-sensible it may be..... Not long later, upper management totally reverses course and everybody runs full speed the other direction.
And if a company is trying to cut costs, why do they permit $3000 to be spent on WIN meetings (for example) for lunch? That type of stuff should be first thing cut, before you start cutting people’s jobs and ruining their lives

Then there are the celebrate Pittsburgh days. A week before mass of round of layoffs. And these seem lemmings or blogging on the internal site about how inspirational and empowering and proud.... eye roll
And if cuts are needed, they should take volunteers. I see plenty of people on these boards that want to get their package. There’s a way to do things & a way not to. My experience , BNYM is always doing things the way you should not.

Maybe executive management compensation should be looked at? My mid-level employee salary is nothing compared to the bonuses these shysters

Employees are the greatest asset in any company. It’s a crime to see how employees are treated in BNYMellon. If this is how employees are treated, clients should take note!

I don’t necessarily blame company, problem is with the managers(middle manement) specially head of LOB’s such as Custody and Cash. Anyone below third level from top and just above people who does the actual work must be terminated first but that did not happened. Instead , these middle management targeted the actual hard worker that actually builds the company .
Terminating middle management is possible by introducing the real agile, this will flatten the hierarchy and makes team productive there by bring value. I advocated this and try to enforce, they isolated me and finally laid me off. If the company goes real agile hardworking will be protected because work is visible to any level. Reason I wanted go real agile is because company spending billions on useless middle management and also I was not happy seeing people not working at all and putting same work item in their timesheet throughout the year. It’s unfortunate but very wrong people are promoted and real smart and hard working folks are shown the door.

I’ve been there a little over a year and I’ve had four different managers. All of them left for roles outside of BNY after being named manager. Probably tells you something.

Great response id–t. Wait, you are probably a member of the fake worker group who portrays doing a lot, while the people below you do all the work and you take all the credit. In other words, you are part of management or have some undeserving title and basically do nothing.

In my department, as people are leaving they can’t replace them quick enough because they’re trying to bring in lower levels, therefore they are hiring contractors to fill the immediate void.

& on top of that , After spending millions on multi year projects, They aren’t getting funding suddenly so all that money was xxxxxx away & promises to clients aren’t being kept....

Great management & leadership.

I’m there for the paycheck, nothing more. No vested interest.

We have no leadership at this point. Just highly paid executives chasing their tales and trying to stay off the chopping block.
