Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

What’s the morale since every FT now has full availability?

Our store hasn’t launched it yet, BUT we know it is coming based on Innerview and other stores in the region.
How about your store?
Specific roles / TMs still getting to make their own schedule?

Not b—s—. These people do not have anything important going on. They just don't want to work when they don't want to because they want to hang with their friends or watch their favorite t.v. show or stay up late watching infomercials.
It becomes extremely apparent when you push them for more flexibility. I am extremely flexible when it comes to transportation, childcare, church, school issues but most of our Tms have no such issues. In fact, every Tm we have that does have childcare or transportation issues or school has better availability and are more flexible than those who don't because they need that $ and their parents aren't paying for anything.

Not jealous, don't want more hours, Tired of being short staffed. Yes I would like to choose my days to work and the times I will work on those days. Who wouldn't

Sounds like someone is a little jealous...
Why not look at the situation as, if she works less hours, you will get more?

Trust me things will not Change! We have a TM that choose the days she works right down to the hours she works, and at 32hrs a week. We All have to work around her schedule. She always requests off to give herself 3 day weekends, and is never available to cover shifts or switch a shift if the team needs it. Really hurts the team. But she is allowed to do this.

Morale at my store has not changed. If anything it has gotten a little better. A lot of our tms are committed to wfm. There are quite a few who are ft and take advantage. So i would say if you are not available much as other tms, it makes sense to give those tms who are available more hours. You can always put a request and 99% of the time it will get approved. Unless of course you request to be off on thanksgiving, xmas week, etc. then you will get denied unless special circumstances and have a very valid reason and proof.

same as usual. I say this because no matter what happens there will always be grumpy tms and there will always be tms who are happy to be here and there will always be tms that are like...meh.

As the person who makes the schedule for my team, having conversations about availability has been pretty easy. I get a few eye rolls and sighs but when it comes to making money or having their ideal schedule, money is going to win. Most people don't have real reasons why they can't work any given hour. Usually their excuse is trivial. Rarely is their reason for not being able to work something actually important like child/elder care, school non profit work, etc. I try to work around those things. Usually people just want off on Saturday so they can party or whatever. Personally I like to work weekends because I am an antisocial hermit who likes to run errands and explore nature when no one else is around but most Tms on my team try to weasel out of every weekend shift

Before we hire them we say most Saturday's are mandatory. One day after they get voted on they say, I can't work Saturday's.

I wish we had a GIG book rule stating we could separate new hires that try that sh–.
