Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Good luck tomorrow everyone.

I'm pretty sure I'm laid off tomorrow. I won't miss the horrible moral at this place. But it's going to s— to say goodbye to people I have worked with for decades. Good luck on your next adventure.

The only thing I miss are the bagels from the Pittsburgh CSC building cafeteria.

I’ve worked in banking for 37 years. Only sheltered folks who have lived their career at one or two very cozy small banks would think that this is the worst ever. It is not even close. Agree with 1qrb+13LnLd7I who obviously has some experience.

Banking ain’t what it used to be. I used to have lavish expense accounts and travelled throughout Europe. Didn’t do much work either. Shame what’s happening.

The amount of people hoping to get laid off is unreal. If you don’t like you’re job go elsewhere instead of complaining on here of all places. There’s drama everywhere you go so good luck finding a place where there isn’t. It’s primarily people like you that cause it anyway so good luck and I hope you get your wish. Less headaches for the rest of us

Most people that I know have already emptied their desk areas of anything they want to keep. They know they must only keep what they can carry out the door if they are laid off. They have seen it happen enough times that they know if they are called to an impromptu meeting, take the stuff to the meeting, because you cannot go back to your desk. People even have special totes for just this purpose. They can take their bag to the meeting, endure what happens, and go out the door with head held high. Take some time off and then get on with life minus BNY. That is not a bad thing. Good luck!

With BNY Mellon’s layoff procedure there are no goodbyes. You have your notification meeting, they take your ID and then walk you to the turnstiles. You aren’t allowed to go back to your department. So if your manager calls you from an unknown number and asks to speak with you be sure to grab all your personal stuff before you go to meet with him or her.

So if you have a meeting scheduled then that means you get to go? I am hoping I get one.

It's for your own good. Bank is doing a lot of people a favor to force them to do something they didn't have the guts to do which is move on.

I’m also nearly certain I’m done tomorrow as well. My boss hardly ever keeps my Wednesday one on ones with me but he scheduled a special one for Monday morning in Pittsburgh. Good luck all.
