Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

When is the next layoff after March 2020? Does anyone have the dates?

They didn't pick me in the latest round of layoffs (3/2 or 3/3). Does anyone know when the next round will happen?

Let’s face it with everything going on they will be massive layoffs street wide. Bank bailouts are coming. This is financial crisis all over again if not worse.

The next lay-off should target the managers who have/had BE employees under them as they are the ones who don’t not know how to extract work and was the reason for the “said” low ranking and should be removed - this will be justice done to all the poor hard working people who were fake ranked and was shown the door !!

I don't mean any disrespect towards anyone raising questions. And I understand people are looking for as much information as they can get in an unstable work environment. But why does anyone need to even ask about confirmed dates at this point? Just look at the history over the last few years and know there are plans to make substantial cuts across Asset Servicing / Operations, and likely other groups. For the past few years, there have been cuts in the months of May and June–after cuts in March, January and November / December of the prior year. It does not seem likely this will change based on the plans. I'll just say as others have: Good Luck to All that are still there or have left, by their choice or not.

I made over $300k last year by doing this. Highly recommended to anyone with the cojones to pull it off.

That's actually a great idea. Sort out some kind of long term WFH arrangement based on a made up medical condition and get a telecommute job. Then do the bare minimum for BNY while working for your other job until BNY lays you off. That's f—ing brilliant.

Excellent advice @1ylr+13Qw9J3z, unless of course you do what I did and "work" 1 day a week at BNY while working another full time job. The trick is to arrange work from home days at both companies in such a way that you can dedicate your BNY wfh days to your real job and vice versa. It's surprisingly easy to do and when you get laid off you'll continue getting paid for several months afterwards. Just use your noggin and the world is your tuna salad sannich.

Layoffs are ongoing from now until you resign or they stick you in a hole 6 feet under. Worry about your resume instead of when the next round of layoffs are coming. Put yourself out there and find another job instead of waiting for the end to come.

Some units in my building have had their units cut by 50%, others have a 1 to1 ratio between management and and actual workers. Quality is suffering big time due to bad automation that doesn’t fully work and lack of quality workers.

My understanding is that rather than 'big bang' layoff days, they will tend to spread them out over time.
