Conscious Capitalism

  • the true mettle of an individual or a company is tested in times of crisis, not when things are going well. In November 2008, the Tata Group’s iconic Taj Mahal Palace & Tower Hotel in Mumbai was the epicenter of a horrendous terrorist attack that k–led 164 people and wounded at least 308 in the souther part of the city. Eleven hotel members were k–led, most while helping appropriately 1,500 guests escape from harm..................
  • Tata provided compensation to the families of every deceased member, ranging from $80,000 to $187,000. In addition, Tata did the following:
  • Guaranteed that deceased team member’s residences would be provided to the family, through the lifetime of the next of kin.
  • waived all loans and advances, regardless of amount.
  • committed to paying the team members’ last full salary for life.
  • took completely responsibility for the education of children and dependents through college-anywhere in the world.
  • provided full health-care coverage for all depends for their lives.
  • provided a counselor for life for each person................
  • When the company’s HR leaders presented this plan to Ratan Tata, his response was not “How much will it cost? Can we afford it? Are we setting a bad precedent?” Instead, he asked, “Are we doing enough? What more can we do?”.........................

Per hour, he makes a whopping $8,961,187 — that's roughly 315 times Amazon's $28,466 median annual worker pay. An Amazon worker earning the $15 minimum wage would need to work about 597,412 hours, or 24 hours a day for about 68 years, just to earn what Bezos makes in one hour.

And they cutting my $160 a month on May 17th. Sad really sad.

Amazon has about 75000 employees. If he donates $1billion to his employees, each will get about $13k. That equals a little less than a WEEK’s pay for him.

Very sad that we are losing TMs. Now let’s see how this conscious capitalism company responds. Earnings are bout to be released for the husband’s company and the wife JM will also benefit. They are raising the stock price to $3000 per share.

Let’s see what they do for their TMs.

To put taxes into perspective, consider this: in fiscal 2011, Whole Foods Market had profits after taxes of approximately $343 million, but we paid over $825 million in total taxes to all jurisdictions................

  • If business taxes were lower, all the other stakeholders would have more- lower prices for customers, higher wages and benefits for team members..........(conscious capitalism pg 136)

Hmmm corporate taxes went down. Our wages went up only because union was about to take over, our health benefits are worse than before. So how does this talk bout lower taxes would benefit us? Consumer prices have gone up too. This wife is so fake. And now we are in a pandemic and she is no where to be found. And the husband has not paid taxes at all since the marriage. So much for a love at first sight. Tata puts these two clowns to shame.

Trader Joe’s is having difficulties with union now. Whole Foods needs to do better at taking care at it’s tms. Pay them better at leas $10 more for all tms( store leadership included) in store level, give us pto hours 100 hrs for ft 50 for pt to b used at our discretion n if we dont use it cash it out at end of year like Home Depot, give all tms a one time bonus $1000(double of wat Starbucks)

All the protection whole foods is doing is something that they are been forced to do. They are not doing it because they want to. It is very sad that whole foods has changed so much for the worse.

Any one got the letter from the wife? The wife needs to know that whole foods is not doing enough. $2 is not enough. Amazon shoppers start at $19 n yet our cashiers are exposed to hundreds of customers everyday. A lot of people got no pto and they force themselves to work because they are the only ones working in their family. All team members at store level regardless of title should get 160 pto hours for ft n 80 pto hours for pt if they have been at least 3-6 months w the company. And all team members at store level regardless of title should get a %10 pay increase in their next job dialogue if they got hired bef February. Pay a ine time bonus to all team members regardless of title like starbucks us doing. Pay $1000 bonus make it better than them. If home depot can do it, why not whole foods a so conscious capitalism company. Show us that you truly understand what you wrote.

So far whole foods is doing a poor job at taking care of its team members. They are not even paying full shift if tms are sent home if their temp is high. People need the money. Some members are the only ones working in their family.

That crisis response is truly extraordinary... given the chance (as we can now clearly see) most people would not respond in that manner because “absolute power corrupts absolutely” (this is an excellent business and PR opportunity for people like Bezos). And because of the ignorance which breeds fear, in a state of fear people react (panic buying, hoarding, racist attacks, paranoid conspiracy theories and other selfish reactions) instead of using logic to think through possible courses of action.

I don’t think capitalism is civil and I don’t think true equality can exist in a capitalist society. Now and once all of this blows over is the time to vote. Vote with where you spend your money, where you put your attention, what platforms you use (they mine your data... audiences are bought and sold), and vote at the polls.
