Thread regarding Children's Hospital of Philadelphia layoffs

Voluntary layoffs

The hospital is asking for voluntary furloughs to stem $250 million loss fiscal year 2019.Ceo and upper mgt take 25% pay cut it’s only a matter of time before the shared sacrifice starts.
Next comes furloughs, layoffs, no more matching 401k maybe even early retirement packages to save jobs of younger employees

Their are better options like voluntary retirements such as weeds credited for number of years worked and time worked at hospital
This might be a fair way to treat employees instead walking into work one day and told you don’t have a job

Instead of furloughs and layoffs the airlines just announced early retirement incentives so it’s not across the whole workforce which will let the younger employees keep their jobs no company wants to furlough when you have more employee friendly means.

What a circus it’s like musical chairs where are the dedicated employees going to land no one knows for sure.
No wait some people do but when the music stops guaranteed there’s going to be lots of pain good luck tryin to find another job in this economy.
Sure would be nice to have some real transparency so employees can get on with their families lives.
Just a thought maybe employees can attend new ribbon cutting on new tower in center city
And King of Prussia .

The hospital talks about furloughs but when pressed about unemployment compensation the hospital says check with state. Once the furloughs start especially voluntary it would help to know what income will be received before making decision to help ease financial burden to help Chop it has to work both ways.

Sign of the times everyone must share the pain and do what’s right for hospital and employees who are about to send kids off to college and pay their bills.
It’s a tough time to try and make decisions about your future when your job might not be safe
