Not clear by forced. Unless one is a prisoner or indentured servant no one is forced. A business should have the same loyalty an employee has to it. Employee is compensated with $ in exchange for services performed. Both parties operate in their own interest. Employee employer relationship is free-association at will by both

Ever since BNY took over our business, they’ve been wanting people to quit. Some things never change, the company or the employees. Writing has been on the wall for almost a decade, yet people continue to expect the comany to do good by them. Duh.

OP - has management been asked to share their continuity plan if an increase in Covid cases arises? What is the plan and timeframe to return employees to remote arrangements if that happens? What number of employees need to test positive before they consider returning to remote arrangements? Are they requiring employees to be tested before coming back to the office? I'm sure others can think of additional questions that management should address before employees return to the office.

I won't mention the college since some people may know who I am, but this college opened it's dorms and a requirement was to receive Covid testing before settling in. Well, they allowed students to setup in the dorms while test results were pending and found 400 positive cases the week results came in. They were forced to allow students to opt to return home and elect online learning which required the college to return several hundred thousand dollars for them not residing on campus.

This company is about to see many employees leaving. Other companies are taking the opposite stance with choosing to remain mostly remote after Covid. Other companies have seen better employee morale, cost savings from not needing the office space and increased productivity. As soon as this company has more and more people back to the office, people will quickly realize the open environment is not suitable and jump to those other companies. BNYM management will tell you other peer companies are doing the same as them...it's a total lie. Allot of us talk to people that work at peer companies.

I’d be interested to know which team this is. I was in a meeting with an EC-1 operations Exec a few days ago and he/she mentioned that some of their people would be asked to return sooner than 2021 due to an uptick in operational losses due, at least based off their analysis, to the distractions related to working from home and the errors that stem from those distractions. This move isn’t unprecedented, there have been ops people working from the office for several months now at this point, depending on their function.
