Don’t think EM has enough budget for the next retrenchment. PIP will be the best solution to push out employees.

How about the WeAreExxonMobil committee? That one should be high visibility- and relatively straight forward. Just chant the usual BS of care of compete to win, winning and parrot what DW says - and it will be deemed a complete and absolute success. Is registration open yet? Or it’s only reserved for the hiPOs and boot lickers?

Liar!!! ESRC got no more funding so nothing for you to leech. That’s why now only Zoom calls.

Please go to WIN instead. Heard recognition is higher there.

I have been tagged executive potential by management but I feel like quitting. Should I wait for package and continue to exhibit Weareexxonmobil values? I feel like if I continue to stay, I can kick more incompetent colleagues out first and maybe change the environment. Then I will pretend to show like I am sad they are leaving (you know you are doing it too) and we will meet again outside one day. I will do more ESRC activities and continue to leech off your membership money.

I’ve won a global award and got praised by a manager for exhibiting weareexxonmobil behaviors. I’m safe right?

Should have been looking around even before the workforce study. You snooze you lose. Take the PIP on the chin and hope you survive, if you don’t have jobs lined up. Sh– has already hit the fan- it’s just whether it has splattered on you?

Oh no... no more budget for layoff. PIP and TMTS are coming for us. Time to look around before the sh– hits the fan.

It will be at 8%. Leaders need to show that PIP is not a workforce reduction program, but a performance enhancement tool.

Think the 8% will be maintained for 2021.

HR and our top bosses in sg will know the targeted cut. If you lucky, they will share.

Wonder how many employees will fall into the next round of PIP/PIL after the lay off?

Dayum! I did not know they were cut. I thought they resigned for greener pastures!

Well in that case all the best to them!

The DM and DH whom will be leaving the company are both my dear and trusted colleagues/friends. The strong bonds we have endeared, while working together during the many plant upsets and through the long nights - in the years gone by that only we can reminisce.
Yes, like many here, we were all young once, with budding families and children to feed, school, and mortgages and loans to pay.
They’ve both (and many other RERs and CL28/29s, who have recently been let go) have taken stock of their livelihood ahead and whatever careers that have so suddenly been truncated and having humbly decided, or been told to go.
Let’s give them the space ad time that they will now need to rebuild their lives and empathise with them, in their moment of respite.
Your knowing whom they are will not change things a bit, except giving you the bragging right to circulate their names around the grapevine even more!
Tango Yankee - Peace and out.

Sometimes the best solution is the chance to fail . Failure is the greatest teacher . It brings the lesson of humility and empathy to the Mgmt .. only when they are in the shoes of our retrenched colleagues will they be better human and then ready to be a better leaders ....

Hey , after reading your notes on local “leadership” team. I did a scan... none served the army! They never experience leading soldiers on mission whereby they are all exhausted , morale Low , half a company’s or platoon’s strength yet need to conquer an objective ! OMG! 😂😢😅🤣

They meet for regular updates on headcount status. HR is there to help them, not us. If cannot achieve reduction needed, HR will assist. Unfortunately, none is on our side. Speaking in media about fair retrenchment; but doing all cruel and unethical on us. So much bad deeds on the innocents, I feel so ashamed.

Iam definitely leaving , although I am the unfortunate one “elected “ to stay... the local leadership does not have the mettle to bring this company out of this crisis.... most of them are straight from Uni into Em, this is the only company they have worked for ... tell me how are they going to bring this company out of this crisis when all the experienced hands are gone ? Left behind are younger and cheaper workers like us , and older CL 28/29 paper “ generals” who are good in powerpoints ? Then we have execs who are interested to continue milking the cows and enriching themselves . Who is really interested to rebuild this company ? We have a Dinosaur thinking CEO still deeply entrenched in fossil fuel , even if he wants to branch out to renewables he has no money to spend bec the balance sheet is so badly damaged. Basically , we are counting on external factor like OPEC + not increasing production so that supply will be short ... to ride the recovery of crude price ! Meanwhile , internally we continue to cut ... cut what? Cut pple ! Who ? You and me - the worker bees ! This is a sign of empire going into a trajectory of decline ! If u can’t appreciate , go and watch Netflix - Rome empire ... we are exactly in this scenario.

Many in EMAPPL still think that with the recent retrenchment exercise, we have met the headcount targets, as stipulated in TMTS country workforce study.
How wrong they are!
To meet the real targets laid down, management has up to the next 2-3 years to bring our overall headcount further - through normal attrition, retirements (w/o RER conversions) ... and the consolidation of whole sections across departments.
All this, coupled with the slow weeding out of NSI non-performers over the next few PA cycles.
That’s the inconvenient truth of all things to come!
As management will always say to the undecided: “the door is always open”.

Mgmt are given cut targets to meet for sure, this will go on regularly. Those in this local league will scratch each others back, HR will advise on methods and make sure targets are met. All of us are dispensable, and will go on. Why do this to us? Aren't we together in it??

You sounded as if cl28/29 has the authority to make themselves stay back lol... if they are not the cronies of the execs you think they can stay back if they want ???? Cut a few of them can save a few more effective and productive 27/26 workers who could deliver more results than having these pple doing upward Mgmt and playing role of eunuchs lol

Such a toxic workplace, peers backstab one another, manager step on team members to get promoted, yearly appraisal conducted in dark room, management team failed to walk the talk for years. Majority Workforce stay for the money not for the working environment, no surprise if the outside world is aware this is a rotten place to work in, big name on the outside, rot to the core if you step inside.

CL 28/29s above 50 are already earning > 30万 pa.
Of course they will hang around and not give up their jobs right?
Who will? Would you?
一百万 in every 3 years!!!
Why not?

It is clear from this exercise and the previous year’s PIP/PIL, that the CL27 “worker bees” are expendable. Really.
Fire now and hire again, later on, when needed!
Superfluous and dispensable.
Pawns, bargaining chips - call it what you want.
I suppose that many here are in that category :)

If you compare numbers of CL 28/29 and exec cuts versus CL 27 and below( who are the real worker bees ) , it’s a damn small percentage ! I am not sure why we have so many late 50s CL 28/ 29 still hanging around ! Bec they are friends of the execs lol ?

They often play the rhetoric tune of we value our pple ... but In action it speaks differently. In the face of crisis , instead of exploring options ( pay cut down the chain with execs taking the lead, trim Div) , the lead case is put the pple under the bus ! Liken to when the titanic hit the iceberg , instead of throwing furnitures overboard , we throw ppl first. Yes , we reckon that maybe the workforce needs to be trimmed due to changing environment , but we could always do it after the crisis when things are back to normal. This will allow the company to compensate all the employees competitively( we are worst payout master among shell and chevron) . At least pple leave the company with a grateful heart and it’s also a recognition to their many years of contribution. As for those who talk big ... and lack empathy . Let me warn u , the time will come for u ... u will then learn what some of your peers are going thru . It’s might be worst for u!

Be honest, don't brush away TOUGH questions in forums, if payroll or job cuts expected, say it. Paid so much, not hiding behind text book answers in order to keep your rice bowls. If text book answers again, means the top is hiding something more important.
