Damn sad.. I'm ranked outstanding for last two cycles but no increment even for 2022 :( the funny thing is I can get higher pay if I walk out, but I keep hoping things will get better here.

When I tidied my CV last night I reflected that I'm grateful to EM for all the learnings and experiences in the past 15 years... I worked so hard with little visibility type of work.. it's all pure "work like dog" work. but it was all good learning. I'm thankful I work for a once great company, but I'm starting to apply for jobs already

AWS to be cut by 2 months...meaning we will only get 1 month from 2022 onwards.
This is HR reccomendation to align us to market, getting 13th month only.

GC and SG mgt are supportive and received praises from Dallas.

First line and day team are overly paid for that level of skillsets & commitment. I am believe technicians are being abusive by doing all their jobs. Any companies outside will not paid $10,000 for someone to just delegate downwards. This role do not hold any responsibility as well. FRCS outcome mainly fixated at 5 and/or 6. It is always the technician at fault & not the supervisor. Oh well, these parasites are ki----g a hundred over years old big tree. Luckily I left earlier as I do not see eye to eye with operation management.

In fact, company do not need first line supervisors/MCs since technicians pool are capable to do their jobs. Why waste money on them? Please save the real worker bees in the field

Shoppee has been taking in so many of our Em folks. What does this mean? Our guys who have crossed over must have shown good performance , that is why Mgmt of shoppee is keen to hire more … well done ex -Emers. Leave and go to places where u are more apprecIated and valued . More importantly set path towards sunrise and not sunset industry. Certainly I have no interest to accompanying GC to watch the sunset …

In every company, salary benchmarking is done to justify your low pay, find the lowest possible pay they can to make you bark as they wish, communicated as an exercise for your benefit

Go out and survey or ask your friends whether EM salary and bonus is high. Why not also ask your China or Thai colleague?

It's almost impossible that AWS will be cut. Our salary will not be competitive amongst the majors, we will lose plenty of talents from the company. These rumours are spread to incite fear in the company. Even if its true these are confidential matters, how could it be possible such news leaked out. And why they did not cut AWS in 2020 even through times are worse than now. Oil is back up $70/bbl. Chances are slim AWS will be cut. Stop the rumours!

I hope Thai HR gets lots of RSUs with this AWS cut. Single handedly saved the company millions with wage reductions, increased attrition rates in Singapore. Someone other than GC, DW must benefit from this right?

Just heard that AWS confirm to be only 1 month. But at the same time increment will be given based on performance over last 2 cycles. Plan is to give a big increment to excellent and outstanding performers which will translate to overall small increment on an annual basis (~15% to cover for the ~13% reduction due to 2 months AWS removed).

For those ranked below very good, expect to get miserable increments below 2% and your cut in AWS is used to fund the increment of the better performers.

Attrition comes from repeated PIPs (3 months of flogging every year, then slog for the remaining 9 months … and if still end up in NSI? Then repeat the whole cycle over again, the following year).
See how many can tahan this kind of abuse.
After 2-3 years of this mental, emotional and physical torture, most will leave the company. Younger, new hires, as well as the old hats alike - they won’t find it comfortable anymore ….. no more cruising along.
The voluntary resignations only add to the overall attrition tally count.
Sooner (more so, than later), the company WILL need to rehire - to remain operable. No problem.
One advert alone for a couple of positions will attract thousands of applicants from all over Asia - not just Singapore.

Lmao it is a joke when you think that our SLS are competent enough such that it will leave a tangible impact on the organisation if they leave, especially when the base engineers are leaving in hordes. How to be supervisor when there are no one to supervise?

It would be a lot more straightforward for the company to sever the services of the less experienced (say those with CL26s, in order to be ready to enact a second genesis of the SG workforce, when the time comes. This will guarantee an uninterruptible path forward, for the company to transition this temporary “glitch” without much business and operational impact.

If the attrition is reversed and top-side biased, it would be an almost impossible task to regenerate ourselves with a bunch of half-baked, low/no-experience employees, who had likely stayed on, only to eye at the SLS and DH positions vacated, that they think they would like, but have no capability at all, to fill!

GC and team are using CL26 and above attrition numbers to justify 1) Very few are leaving 2) With this layer intact, expertise and experience are here to stay 3) Pay package is competitive.

My observation is for CL26+...meaning 2nd line, dept head etc....they have nowhere to go...pay package too high for general management skillset.

To the rest....head for the exit doors if you can. The next 5 years at least wont be pretty.

Ifwe are lucky, they cut 2 months. Otherwise if things go according to GC’s plan, we will cut all 3 months. We are still competitive, especially at the CL26+ level got the attrition numbers to show for it, so it’s very likely this year is the last year we have 3 months AWS.

For those of you thinking of leaving, better close the deal quickly before the announcement is out and compromise your wage negotiations. Nobody is indispensable and the company is very eager to show this. GC is clearly eager to show support to Dallas. Don’t worry about her, her RSUs and the associated dividends will more than cover the AWS cuts. Think for yourself first.

I must cut Singaporean’s AWS so that Khun Woods will get his $3B cost savings.

Anybody know how much AWS they are potentially looking to cut?

Dallas has an agressive target for SG, with the believe that SG only needs 50% or 1500+ pax to run the biz here and remain profitable.
As long as this number is not met, salary freezes, promotion for only select few will continue for a few years no matter how well EM as a whole is doing.
GC/SG mgt is supportive and is trying to reach that target.
There is nothing much we can do...if you can leave...no one will be stopping you.
