Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

I don't think we'll be back in the office this year

I believe that 2021 will be about the same or worse as last year. I don't see travel happening, either.

workers that need to be supervised per regulators will be the first in. the farther away you are from face to face customer interaction the less essential it is for you to be on premises

real estate is expensive, lights, ac, security, cleaning, phones, copiers, refrigerators, elevators, maintenance, on site techs, office supplies, paper, desks, chairs, conference rooms, connectivity services, internet, sick days, traffic delays all avoidable EXPENSES via WFH. A mouse tracker and keylogger if you don't think one is on now you're naive will do the trick measure your activity vs your group team dept etc

if you don't think that is happening now you're naive

where i'm going with this is are you office essential. if no then you're wfh.

and will get rotated in 1 week per month just to keep you shaving and doing your hair and don't turn into cave man woman

it's the end of the world as you know it song is now reality

Travel is a big waste.

You can video conference for the same effect for much less than travel.

In previous years, there were cuts galore but a few of the clowns would fly in for the same lame waste of money Christmas party.

That really helps the budget and bottom line.

We were headed to largely work from home years ago. Then Chainsaw Charlie came along. He ended work from home partly because the Yahoo CEO made it trendy (the same CEO that said she was not going to use most of maternity leave : / Mainly it was done to piss people off and get them to quit so he didn’t have to lay them off (and pay unemployment),

I think we’ll be brought slowly after the Covid vaccinations are complete.

Heard a radio interview with the CEO of another large company. He said that his employees’ opinion of working from home broke down into three categories: those that never want to return to the office, those that never want to work from hone, and those that want a mixture of both.

Hope BNYM gives us the ability to choose.

I don't think any of the large offices are bringing people back to the office at all this year.

The downside is no traveling.
