Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

It’s a business. Stop saying you care about the people- you don’t.

Maybe it makes you feel better and helps you to sleep at night but you don’t care about the people. Layoffs next week prove that. While Todd stated at a town hall we would be more humane about the process we are going in the opposite direction.
Expect a call from your manager as early as Sunday night, no HR person, you I’ll be pointed to a website for information about your package.
That’s your idea of more humane? I hope they end up with multiple lawsuits.
At least Charlie was transparent.

Only your family cares about you, the company does not. You are replaceable there, just an entry in a database, spreadsheet, and part of a headcount. But not at home.

To foyq you are the naive one....

Management should be very open with employees and emphasize that layoffs are the future to drive earnings. Very few decisions are made on actual productivity. Decisions are made based on what will continue the managements teams current paycheck.

Posters like this are so naive. Of course the firm cares about its people. It cares about those who contribute to a sustainable and growing stream of profits. Any business does.

The firm is NOT, however obliged to offer permanent employment doing non value added stupid stuff. Automation, innovation and change will affect ANY business and will here. It is inevitable.

So....go get skills that are relevant in 2020 and beyond and in the meantime stop whining. Nobody owes you ANYTHING.

Yep. My manager and her manager lied to my colleagues about my layoff. They told them they had no idea. I exceeded expectations 5 years in a row, never had a bad review, and gave everything I had to that place. And for what? To be humiliated and walked out like a crook. F— that place.

It’s not managements fault.

Seriously. It’s the boards fault for putting management that has no initiative and has no plan. If hire yes-men to be managers, you won’t get exceptional results. Inertia is hard to break.

This has been the case since 2011 when Bob Kelly retired. Gerald was never supposed to be a long-term or visionary leader and yet he has been the longest tenured ceo in the past 15 years. Says a lot.... the same thing is currently happening with the “interim” ceo Todd.

I did hate Charlie but to his credit he actually seemed to try.

Go ahead and pee on the employees , because that’s what animals do. But don’t call it rain. We are not THAT stupid.
