Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Catch up

Is “catch up” the new slang for “you did something wrong and we need to discuss actions. Throughout the years, I’ve had many “catch up” meetings to discuss items like tardiness(being two minutes late due to transportation issues), common mistakes, etc.... I freaked out every time I got a “catch up” request. Then the next time I got one, it was to present my merit raise last year and wasn’t a bad thing(outside of merit totally s—ing as always). I thought this was some psycho phrasing my manager came up with, but now it seems like corporate jargon for layoffs. So far, no “catch up” requests yet. Here’s hoping for this afternoon!

Maybe my department is different, but I've never had a bad or unexpected conversation in my catch up. Actually while WFH its good to see management at least trying to keep in contact with the team.

From my experience it’s when someone wants something from you. Could be an opportunity or a waste of time.
