Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

John Mackey in Joe Rogan, his book and media appearance

This might mean that Mackey’s last day with wholefoods is near. Which would mean a big change for wholefoods. Amazon bought wholefoods for its customers never for the business practice/management practice of wholefoods nor the leadership of wholefoods.
The way these wholefoods stores have been run on the store level, is pretty pathetic as many people in the store leadership are the ones who got promoted after sticking around for 10-20 years after starting off as a TM of grocery department or the likes. They never had a chance to acquire the knowledge necessary but they got there pretty much because of their skills in politics. Frankly, where the employees have been mainly Hispanic, for convenience they promoted Hispanics to be the store leadership which resulted in creating a ghetto (an isolated or segregated group or area) in some locations eventually. One way or another a big change is necessary.

True. Lol. It’s a grocery store and we are talking about the grocery store jobs. How do you not make it a ghetto store?

Translation: John Mackey was on the Joe Rogan podcast, released a book, and is appearing more in media lately.

Yes, I still use the oxford comma. Deal with it.

Also OP’s last sentence is racist. Where they mention hiring more Hispanics creates a ghetto store.

I am one of the long term (older) employees who works their tail off. I work very hard while scores of employees get away with standing around in groups and talking all day. These people are half my age. Part timers don't care enough to make any effort. Don't tell me the problem is the "older employees who make more money". The young people think they should make more money for doing less work and they all should be the boss yet they know nothing and make little effort to learn. There is good and bad in each generation, the problem is this company plays favorites and promotes based on that and a good interview rather than a good work ethic. I hope change is coming but lets base it on work ethic and not favoritism.

The majority of the problems are leadership not at store level.

A lot of longtime employees who get paid a lot but contribute not as much, these people need to go first if any meaningful changes were to happen because everything happens within the budgets.

Its all about moving product nobody cares about the customer experience. As long as the employees are not rude the customer service is acceptable. Talk to any longtime employee about the steady decline of WFM with lowering of the raise percentage and the worsening health insurance. Its not a matter of Amazon being able to do better for its employees it just chooses not to.
