To those who work from home,

Do you worry that you may not have a job to return to when we are able to come back to the office?

Worried? I'm praying for it!

The only thing that worries me is having a coworker get laid off before me. My workload is already unmanageable so I don't want theirs.

Your replies clearly showcase the essence of where BNY Mellon is heading.

You are the future of BNY Mellon if management doesn't accommodate those of us that seek a full time remote option.

Such a bleak foreshadowing of the downward spiral being taken by our company.

1jrh+19FMp5l0, I said maybe you are a hermit. I didn't say that you were. I guess I touched a nerve with you.
I mentioned that I was ready to go back to work and you made assumptions about me. You don't sound like a delightful person to begin with. Enjoy your day.

I quoted your post, didn't assume anything. Seemed to have touched a nerve. The reasons you give for wanting to be back in the office have nothing to do with work itself.

If you long for human interaction, there are social groups to join. There are local hobby events and groups to join. There are, in fact, plenty of options for human interaction.

You resort to name calling with referring to me as a hermit. It's totally the opposite. I'm fulfilled in my home life, social life, and work life. I know how to separate the three which is why I don't find it necessary to rely upon work colleagues for personal fulfillment.

1dmb+19FMp5l0, you assume. My reason for wanting to get out of the house doesn't mean that I want to make idle chit chat. Normal people want human contact. I want to get up and go as it gives me a purpose to get up. It's human nature to want to be around others. I am a high performer and I work well with others and don't interrupt others with endless drivel.
Maybe you're a hermit?

SUB pay actually works to your advantage if you make the most of it.
Severance is different and means you are ineligible for immediate unemployment, at least for a while, but if you take unemployment, then you are supposed to be looking anyway.

Someone I know that used to work there made more money on SUB, and large portions of it are exempt from certain taxes, so it actually has its benefits.

Typical response from the in office proponents...I don't like being cooped up. I want to dress up. I want people to talk with about what's happening in my life.

That's the reason in office isn't for high level performers. We have to succumb to interruptions like you mention. Get a friend or join a social group outside of work if you're lonely.

Yes, I want to work from home indefinitely.

I want to escape being involuntarily obligated to listen to your trivial matters, coffee chats and hallway conversations. I want to avoid obligating customers to all the background noise on calls that comes with in office open work spaces. I want to focus on supporting customers and completing projects.

Metrics have proven that productivity increased while working remotely. That's attributed directly to less in office distractions.

High level performers can work anywhere, contribute significantly and accomplish all tasks successfully.

In office is for non performing employees to be dregs on high performers...makes no sense that our company is choosing to accommodate lower performing employees over the high performers.

Plan for a mass exodus of remaining talent next year if our managers don't come around to full time remote working.

@1svw+19FMp5l0, yes , I am ready to get back to the office, already. I miss dressing up. I hate being cooped up like this. At least let us come back a few days a week. I don't want to work from home for the rest of my life. For that, I would get a wfh permanent job.

After a year aren’t people ready to go back to the office. Maybe not everyday but do you want to WFH for the rest of your life.
It will be nice to get dressed.

Not at all. There's so many companies out here that have stated they are allowing employees to remain full time work from home after the pandemic ends. I think it's BNY Mellon that should be worried that allot of employees will only return for a short lived period until they snag a full time work from home opportunity with another company.

Don’t count on it working exactly like that. They give SUB Pay not Severence. With SUB Pay, if you get a job you legally have to notify them. Your SUB pay will then stop.

Worried about it? Hell I'm COUNTING on it!! I mean, I'm basically getting paid for job searching at the moment. I'm hoping I can get something lined up so I can use the severance for vacation. After vacation I can come back to a new job that's not BNY Mellon. I sure hope it works out that way.
