I opted in for receiving the personal belongings, but I still haven't received anything yet. What is going on?

We understand that your employment with the Bank of New York Mellon, or an affiliate, ended after the Company transitioned to Work from Home due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We are working to return personal belongs to those who have left the Company and need to know if you already have them, if you would like them to be returned or if you would like us to discard them appropriately.

Please note, in certain circumstances you may be required to return to the office, following our COVID-19 protocols, to pack your belongings. In all cases, please do not return to the office before receiving explicit instructions to do so.

You are one step ahead of many as you actually received an email.
Saying people should have seen this blah blah blah isn't helping. Many of use spent a great deal of time in the office and have personal belongs there to make our job more comfortable and to be more productive.
A year ago we left thinking we would be back in 2 weeks.
BNYM is a big firm, figure it out.
I suggest we all start writing to Todd and HR.
Cr-pping on former employees is very short sighted, we may end up working for clients and competitors

All you personal belongings are going to auctioned off to the highest bidder in an effort to defray to cost of your SUB package and the supplies you used while employed. Honestly, you should have seen this coming and taken home anything of value a long time ago.
