How much more work do you do compared to last year?

A lot of people are complaining about the increase in workload since last year and I believe them. Admittedly, that's not my case but I don’t know how they could give me more work when I’ve already been working so hard for a few years now that I don't see how I could take another even the slightest task. Some even say that they have twice as much work, which I can hardly believe because it would mean that before they did almost nothing at all.

@4dnk+1a0T6ZFX, if you are a non-exempt employee you should get overtime pay. I believe it's for anything over 8 hours in a day or 40 hours per week. Also, it's probably a felony to falsify business records even if you are an exempt employee.

My grade level entitles over time pay for anything above 40 hours a week; but whenever I put over 40 hours a week due to late work from the market, my manager would ask me to change it to 40 hours. They say managements expect the work load to be completed in 40 hours, you are not supposed to put in overtime. Is this legal? Management just want us work for free after 40 hours a week. Can I bring this to the State Department of Labor?

@3xpg+1a0T6ZFX If what you are saying is that you are working MORE than 40 hours per week but are being told you cannot report your extra work hours on your time card...that is definitely NOT legal. Assuming your normal work schedule is five days a week, eight hours per day...then you are well within your rights to immediately stop and go home every day at the end of eight hours. Management has the right to institute overtime if the workload requires it, but if you are being told you cannot claim it on your timecard then you are basically working extra hours for nothing.

My workload has increased and they won't allow me to put in overtime on time card; my manager forced everybody to put 40 hours per week . Is this legal? Any advise?

I used to take 3 dumps a day just to pass the time. For the amount of work the money is good but you can't live off of it in nyc. VPs make what associates make everywhere else and first level managers is what entry level makes at other banks. So if you're one of those women hooking up with your boss to try to move up then you wasted your time lol because they're underpaid too

My workload has increased but I won't allow myself to work to exhaustion like some other people I know. My personal time is extremely important and if that's at odds with this organization's goals then so be it. I'll do the best work I can for 40-45 hours per week and that will either be sufficient or it won't. I'm never going to look back on my life and wish I worked more hours.

It doesn't matter how hard all of you are working. They will still throw you out like the trash with no second thoughts. This is the worst company to invest your energy into.

Yes my work load as increased dramatically, doing a minamun 30 hours extra a month with no sign of it leaving, people not being replaced on the team and new procedures with no real training making tasks longer to complete.

It's a combination of factors that has increaded my workload, not simply the volume of it. For one, the complexity of the work my team is expected to complete daily and weekly has been micro-managed and had new procedures implemented that double or triple the amount of hours required to finish. Also, my team has had a 30% reduction in staffing that has not been replaced so everyone has had extra work distributed to them. Before these changes were implemented over the course of the last few years, I was busy...but not so harried that I couldn't catch up to the workload. Now, every day feels like I'm running on a treadmill but never getting ahead of the work.

I can't tell you how many meetings I joined on my days off.
I'm not sure that I was that much busier the last few years, but not being able to take the time to do things right was very frustrating.

It is possible. You're likely working a regular 40 hour work week schedule and consider that as being at full capacity. There are those like me putting in 70 to 80 hours a week. People like me don't know what weekends are because we work straight through. So when someone like myself says there is no further ability to increase workload, we are essentially saying management is putting something at risk to offset that additional burden. (Or that the time is around the corner where management should expect a resignation). But that would means you 40 hour work week people may get to find out what it's like to have your workload doubled ( cause someone needs to get it done). Only then can you truly understand.
