Ruined career

Do you have problems with animosity in this company? I can say for sure that my career was ruined by my superior. He showed this unexplainable animosity for a long time. I never understood the background of such irrational hatred that didn’t stop until he figured out how to ruin my career. I guess I should have told him many times that he is the best and most capable expert ever, perhaps then he would've left me alone.

Keys to a long career: Never complain. Be tactful. if you want to talk about a problem, be ready to suggest some solutions and volunteer to be part of the solution. Never use your work PC for ANYTHING PERSONAL. Be careful what you say and who you talk about in IM – They can read anything at anytime. Give a full days work for a full day's pay. Look busy! Volunteer for special projects or suggest something that will add to efficiency. Never complain about your salary and especially not your bonus. Don't compare yourself to others out loud. Even if you are correct and fed up with others, lack of recognition, lack of opportunity, 0r lack of support for REAL training managers hate complainers. Mind your own biscuits, and life will be gravy – Kacey Musgraves. Hate the job: Take a risk and get a job at another company. Leave on good terms (in case you want to ever come back) but get the heck out of there. Think you will be missed? Don't count on it.

I was harassed by my supervisor after I complained to her about an employee that kept taking about me to other employees. She was making up things about me. My supervisor then made my life a living h–lI finally got assigned to a different supervisor after my former supervisor went on leave. My former supervisor is still employed with Bofa even though she doesn’t manage any employees anymore and only works every other day. I don’t know why she hasn’t been laid off yet. It’s a mystery.

The type of attorney you would need to consult is called ‘Employment Lawyer’ one that works for EMPLOYEES (as opposed to the ones that work for employers). Recording conversation in some states is legal (google it for your state and find a legit site to get the info from) if one of the parties is allowing it (that would be yourself) and can be used against the company in Trial before a Court of Law. Mostly everybody in GTO is working from home so nobody can remove anything from the office. And yes he can take a photo of the screen of an email where he complains for harrasment to his manager/HR as trail documentation and that is allowed documentation for a Lawsuit.

Please consult a good Employment Lawyer to see where you stand and what your options are.

Again, nobody is ABOVE the Law. Not even Bank of America.

Best course of action in managing your career is to talk to your supervisor. Make sure he knows where you stand, let him know how you feel and inform him where you want to go from there. He can work with you setting up goals in your annual review. Please don't listen to any legal advice from these trolls here. Recording a person without there permission might be against the law and removing certain paper/documents from the company, as evidence could be illegal. If you need to part ways, make sure there are no issues with him recommending you although the company outsources this function.

So keep copies of thencomplaints of harassment because of your protected condition and also if it's legal in the state you reside records all phone conversations so you'll have sound evidence of the harrassment should you decide to tale legal action. Of course the company will deny wrongdoing (Courts see this all day long) and even lie on Court (which is Perjury individuals can do prison time for this). If you have evidence pf the harrassment it is your right to legally prosecute. Remember noboy is ABOVE the Law.

Actually, I worked with incompetent coworkers a couple of times who threatened harassment and discrimination to cover for incompetence. Try to avoid those, they are not a happy bunch and they stink up the whole joint.

Blackballing you is harrassment and illegal..FYI if taken to trial as a reminder Courts usually take the side of the employee.

You need to document everything and keep a copy of emails of yoir complaints. This can be used later on by a lawyer in a Court of Law. It can be used against the company to have it prosecuted until the absolute full extent of the Law.

The only way for your manager to ruin your career is to ding you on your annual reviews, to document any willful violation, to show that you don't follow rules and regulations, disregard for company code of ethics, compliance, theft, not completing assignments...etc. He would need to have some kind of supporting documentation for this. He may give you a hard time, demand quality work, tighter deadlines, providing conflicting or shifting requirements. A lot of this is caused by changes coming from the chain of command, just be sure to explain how any of this ruined your career. If none of this is true, and he indeed is harassing you and you can prove it, then by all means, get on the horn with HR and make your case.
Remember, HR will look closely to both side of the story.

  1. S. Actually, the manager can block your transfers and blackball you, marginalizing your existence in that department.

Why did you allow this? Why disn't you file a complaint with Global HR (email) in the right way? (it's called complaining for harrassment and it is a protected activity means the company can't retaliate against yoi for doing it, at least for the next 180 days following yoir complaint)
