Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Stop blaming mgmt cause you’re a sh---y employee

I’m so sick of see constant complaints about mgmt. do you know how much c––p they have to deal with from people who are late constantly and can’t do a job they’ve done for several years. In top of it when something is messed up who do you the s––t roles down to? Not the sh–––y employee. And you have to go through h––l just to actually terminate someone . Are they sh–––y mgrs? yes, but there are just as many if not more sh–––y employees. Grow up and take responsibility . Why do I have to get screwed in my PMP because of all you

Maybe they wouldn’t be in here “ranting” if they didn’t have to deal with a bunch of immature , lazy people. Do you read the cr-p in these comments? You’re all the exact reason for this thread. We all deal with lazy a-s people on our teams so don’t sit here and act like we don’t. Doing the bare minimum then act like they’re vital assets. Only the sh---y ones would be in here making the d-mb statements . So I guess we all know what side you’re all on. You get paid to do a job so do it . “Our job is to get a paycheck and go home to families”.. how d-mb do you sound. you think mgmt doesn’t want that or deserve that too? Instead they have to get bitched at cause slackers don’t do their job . It’s not their job to babysit a bunch of adults who act like they’re in high school . Grow the he-l up or go somewhere else and leg someone who actually wants to work in these positions

Half of your comments are a damn joke and excuses on this thread. They’re late because they’re not motivated ? Gtfoh. They’re late because they’re unprofessional and lazy! I’ve been part of cross training the same material to the same employees several times and they refuse to learn the work and refuse to look at notes. They don’t want to work and throng uts everyone’s responsibility to hand hold and babysit. You’re all adults and are here to do a job. You know when your shifts begin, how long break is and how long lunch is . Stop blaming someone else because you can’t get you’re sh-t straight. These comments in this thread are pathetic . Most of you’re as--s should have been out of the door before others is right. Don’t blame your mgrs for your inability to grow up

@dbys+1 I hate to burst your corporate yes-man/woman bubble, but it's the height of stupidity to expect employees to "act like owners" when their salary increase every year results in their making less per the Cost of Living Index. Don't spew this corporate cr-p...we all know the people toward the top of the top of the Org Chart are the only ones who are TREATED like owners.

@dhmw
You think "managers" will magically know what needs to be fixed? Senior management has told us to act like owners and live outside our silo yet you think we should put our heads down and concentrate on simple tasks without speaking up?

@crty+1apALLMH - ridiculous. That is not our job. That is what managers are for. Our job is to worry about getting to our next paycheck and supporting our families.

BS, @aiqw+1apALLMH. It's our duty as employees to let managers know about issues. Just because they ignore the issues instead of LEADING their teams to fix the issues doesn't mean we are the problem.

@OP+1apALLMH, so not only do we have disgruntled terminated employees and now we have you the total a-s kissing employee. Ever thought that if you managers spent more time ensuring that your staff was well trained and given the required tools and time to do their job that people wouldn't complain. Looking at things, the managers were the ones who needed training on how to become good managers and not just another brown nose who doesn't care about the people working with and for them. Worried about your PMP, try being a manager and not a yes man to upper management. Try helping your employees instead of helping to sc--w them over.

Spot on. Those who complain about a problem tend to not want to be a part of the solution. If it is easier to move on then I would suggest you do so. There is no substitute for one's emotional health and well–being. So, If you can't move on, then there is no sense in making it worse for everyone else, including your manager. I would suggest making the best while you can.

So, stop blaming management? It's okay for the management to blame the employees though?

The same employees you've VERY LIKELY "delegated" work to and have taken credit for in the past after they hustles to complete it for you?

The same employees who likely would work harder, be much more motivated to do that same work, ask questions, learn, roll up their sleeves and really dig in if you didn't disconnect yourself from them and treat them like peons?

Instead of treating your employees like id--ts, because I guarantee they aren't, otherwise they wouldn't be there, you egomaniac, how about you stop sticking your fingers in your ears and pretending you aren't a part of the problem? I can one thousand percent guarantee that you are a huge part of the problem, especially if you have a revolving door of employees walking into and out of your department within five years. Do I know that you have a revolving door? No. Is it likely? With the attitude and tantrum you threw here, it's entirely possible.

If you're like this to the people that work on your team, I can't even imagine how you are to your own family. You're a truly awful person and I hope this sinks in, but it very likely won't since you refuse to take any responsibility for your employees being absolutely deflated and utterly demotivated. You're their direct line to being motivated and the job being tolerable and you've shown everyone here that you do nothing but treat them like trash. Why should they be motivated when they're treated like dirt under your foot and probably work twice as hard as you could ever imagine? The problem is you're never going to do their job for more than a day or two at a time to see their perspective, let's not even talk about the absurd projects they may have, so this will very likely be lost on you.

Let's ask the obvious question – did you have a one on one with the person who was lacking in their job? Probably not given the childish rant you spewed on her. Yes, they should take some accountability for not knowing or doing their jobs but it's the manager who should be providing guidance etc to help them to get back on track. So how about taking some responsibility on your side??!

If you are supposedly getting screwed in your PMP because someone on your team is lacking perhaps the blame should be placed on you??! Sounds like lack of management on your part. How about taking responsibility on your side too.

You’re a manager ? You’re a crybaby and a classic example of why the company is a horrible place to work.
With your attitude you should be terminated - but maybe your manager has to go through “heck” to do it.
What a loser.

Ok "Fed up", let's assume that you are correct about me AND that I am a "sh...y" employee... Then please explain to me why some of my more valuable co-workers have been laid off instead of me? That sounds to me like my manager is also a "sh...y" manager and is too incompetent to separate the wheat from the chaff for layoffs. And it won't take "people like me" for you to get screwed in your PMP...you seem to be totally capable of getting yourself screwed all on your own due to your self-righteous demeanor.

Ever think that you're not the problem? If you're people don't know the job then get off your a.s and train them.

The reason they are constantly late is that they do not feel motivated, or that they do not feel that their role actually matters. For about two years before I was made redundant, I was always late.....not that it affected my work considering there was so little to do. If I felt being in earlier was required, I would certainly have been there.

Half our team were shed, and now they are hiring again. I must say that I found BNY to be one of the easiest places I have ever worked since everything is siloed, so the range of things to be learned is narrow. Not great for development though.
