Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

I work hard and hope to stay as long as possible

Is there any way to try to keep the job without some unscrupulous backstabbing or brown nosing?

When I read some of these threads, I get the impression that it is impossible to keep a job here just based on your hard work and even upgrading your skillset, and I can’t accept that at all.

When I came to bnym I was thrilled with this promotion because I came from a much smaller bank and I would love to stay here as long as possible.

For one, don't look to a forum where negative people, or those with bad experiences come to vent. That will not help you any.

Who's blaming India? We blame our short-sited "management" and US "leaders" who think they can pass insane things such as the menstrual leave act with no repercussions.
And now we're seeing one of the many bad things about moving jobs to more primitive countries. If they had better access to basic sanitary infrastructure, they'd have far fewer covid cases. But they can work cheaper because their cost of living is lower because they don't have anywhere near the infrastructure we do.

Oh my gosh. D oes every thread have to mention India? Blame the move on your employer. Point the finger where it should be pointed; on American companies who ship jobs overseas. Stop blaming the people in those countries India and wherever else jobs have gone. It's not their fault. They didn't come like a thief in the night and take anyone's job. Your illustrious employer made and is making those decisions. How would you feel if it was the other way around? Americans can be a pretty self centered lot. We would expect others to greet us with open arms, but we don't extend that same courtesy. Yes, I am an American. Born in the city where the declaration of independence was signed. Can't get more American then that.

Well, one of my coworkers used to braid our managers hair. That might help.

Keep upgrading your skillset (get the bank to pay for as many training courses as you can) it will serve you well when you look for other jobs.
Working hard and being conscientious worker does not mean you will keep your job.

I would love to actually talk to you. However, I cannot comment. Perhaps you can. It’s for you to find out. Good luck.
