Job fulfillment is an illusion

Still looking for a fulfillment from a job? Sometimes I find it ridiculous how many people expect fulfillment at work and are disappointed that they can’t achieve it. Fulfillment is an illusion and the sooner I accepted it, the better things got for me. I work for paycheck and I don't expect anything more from this company.

I never expected job fulfilment at work. It's a simple equation. I do the job you hired me for I get paid X number of dollars and agreed on benefits. I usually love my job and sometimes hate it with a passion! I freely admit I don't like it when they move my cheese. Especially when some who knows nothing about what I do in Charlotte decides to change process without a reasonable explanation. So I go to work cash my paycheck, use my benefits (thank God for health insurance). We will see what happens in September when they start calling us back into the office.

Exactly right, friend, set boundaries AND be sure you have reasonable expectations. Some days are better than others.

However...A four-day work week would make me happy as a clam.

Our culture has promoted satisfaction from work over satisfaction in our family life and our role in the communities we live in. Too many live to work, versus work being a tool to support our lives. The only way this will change is if we set boundaries
