Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

The main reasons why you're still here?

I'm really interested in what they are:

  • fear of a new beginning
  • you can't find a new job
  • you had a job offer that means much worse working conditions
  • you still feel the situation here is bearable
  • you suspect that the grass is much greener somewhere else
  • waiting to be cut
  • another reason?

I have changed several companies so far. The more jobs you change, somehow it seems easier to decide to leave and find a new place for yourself.

Sometimes you just need a kick in the pants to actually make a change. You are right that it is hard to let go of something that was once so great, even though you know it will never be great again.
Good luck to you! I have a feeling you are going to come out of this change much happier and you will be asking yourself why you didn’t take a leap much sooner.
Best wishes!

Can't find a new job. Would've left years ago, otherwise.

I remained with Whole Foods for over a decade, starting as a pt tm and moving up into a regional position. Although other job offers outside the company had come my way I was terrified to make the jump. My position was eliminated in this round of layoffs and I’m hoping that it was a blessing in disguise so I can finally be set free to see what else is out there. I think for many of us that have been around since the good ol days, it’s hard to let go of what was. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good company compared to others.. but there are other good companies out there.
