Going Back To The Office Reduces Our Paycheck & Creates More Stress

Do you enjoy the following:

1) Getting up earlier so you can get ready for work
2) Driving 1 - 2 hours everyday to and from work
3) Paying $4.50 per gallon for gas
4) Listening to the loud, ice chewing, coughing person in the cubicle beside you
5) Paying for daycare

The bank is always insistent that associates embrace change, while BOFA takes a hard stance on forcing the associate back into the office because BOFA is unwilling to change.

If a hybrid work schedule works for other large companies like Facebook, Google, Twitter, Sales Force, etc... than there's no reason it won't also work for BOFA. Recruiting talent from other companies who do offer a virtual work schedule just became even harder for BOFA.

The majority of BOFA associates who work from home are currently the happiest they've been during their BOFA employment. Is BOFA really so reluctant to change that they don't care how their employee base feels?

Depending on the age of the child, one can get by without childcare. Even a 10 year old can basically take care of themselves but need an adult around for an emergency.

Childcare and commuting for older kids can add unproductive hours to ones day. Hours that can be spent with family after and before work or even hours to put into work.

I really don’t understand how you’re all being full time parents and full time workers sans daycare. I get that it saves money to not put kids in daycare, and is great for bonding, but I’m sorry, having a hard time believing you’re all cramming in the same hours/work/efficiency while working and parenting simultaneously all day every day.

Honestly, Bank of America is a great company. They have been amazing during the pandemic. I have been with the bank over ten years and worked my way up the chain. It was tough but worth it. However, the last year has taught me what’s (really important) that more time with family. That the true connection that counts. I’m extremely productive WFH. No longer an hour commute in and another hour commute back home. My daughter is three. I chose to go back September 9th on the survey to allow me to look for another job that is more flexible. I can’t bear the thought of losing those two hours a day with my daughter. My daughters daycare is only five minutes from my home. If I returned to the office I would have to drop her off an hour earlier and pick her up an hour later. I don’t think that the (big shots) get this. I love this company but I think they are behind the times. Job searching started immediately following me getting that email this past week.

Fck these id--ts. I’m going to try to find another goddam job at a sensible organization that provides remote or hybrid flexibility. Let’s be real, it’s an effective $1,750/mo. pay decrease to go back to the office due to gas, parking, wear and tear on auto, and daycare. I read a survey in business insider that 49% of employees will look for new work if asked to return to the office, including 59% of people under 40 will.

The best will leave for a job with a more flexible work environment, or retire. Though there will be some great ones who love offices that will stick around.

Tens of thousand of office haters who lack the confidence to seek a better situation will go back in however.

@1bro regarding the unvaccinated stubborn employees who refuse to take the jab, they should be the one forced to work from home and be quarantined in their own homes. It would be beneficial for the company and the cohesion of the teams on the floor. Let them feel the isolation and get green with envy missing those lunch meetings. HA! That would show'em.

Post ID: @1ere+1bHkihRY if everybody's productivity improved 20% by working from home, then we need a corresponding reduction in force to balance the equation and also a reduction in pay to account for all other 'benefits' mentioned by the OP. Hopefully Automation and Artificial Intelligence will pitch in and fill the gaps of hesitant FTE's.

Why are people saying get “back to work”? I don’t know what you are doing but I have been working this whole time and actually improved my productivity.

I love working from home, I’m not exhausted all the time. I get up, log on, knock out my work, log off and go spend time with my kids that are normally spent stuck in traffic. Then we cook dinner and enjoy the evening. It’s been amazing! My quality of life has improved tenfold and I dread the day I have to “return to the office” since you know I have been working this whole time….

Back to work slackers. Get an electric car is gas price is a problem and if you want to beat the traffic get to work before everybody else and leave when traffic dies down. Problem solved, what else you you have to yap about? Next job, make sure you negotiate these requests BEFORE you start working, somewhere in the 'catastrophic' section. Remember, this are the good ol' times....

The bank does this. They dig in to a position and WILL NOT change it until conditions on the street mandate it. Meaning if the stock price plummets and they can tie that to the way the investors feel about forcing folks back to the office, then they'll do an about face. The stock price is absolutely the only driver in this company.

Truth is the bank wants people to go into the office. They know people will quit once they are forced to come back. If people quit they don't have to offer a severance. It's a win-win for them.

You should be paying for childcare regardless. I have 2 under 5 and we would get absolutely nothing done if we tried to work from home and watch them.

If employee said this in the recent employee survey the leaders will ignore and still force return to office. Eventually the bank will loose the best and brightest, growth will become loss with the second-tier talent, and we will be brought out by Citi or Synchrony.
