Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

September 7 - typical day

Get in the building at 8 am. Badge doesn’t work. Have to deal with low IQ security guards who can’t say your name correctly who yell at you because you went the wrong way or to the wrong elevator. You find your new seat and it smells bad because you’re near a few hamplanets with stinky food. You’re locked out of your computer and your hardware isn’t syncing. You have to deal with the help desk but because you were off a letter in your security questions, your boss has to unlock you. But he’s in a meeting so you’re twiddling your thumbs doing nothing until then. You have to then join a few meetings in person so you miss a bunch of emails and don’t respond to deadlines in time. The fall out has you working late so you get stabbed on the way to the subway by a Floyd and have to get treated at the local hospital. But your Anthem coverage sucks so you pay most of it out of pocket. Rinse and repeat the next time.

So depressingly true, its frightening.

Forgot to account for the time needed to scrape boogers off the desk from the guy who sat there the prior day.

No more hiding from your manager once you get your GPS enabled badge holder. Wil make it very easy to see where you are spending your day.

@xyi+1bOrctcp the office bathrooms were great. Someone or some group kept decorating the walls by hanging toilet paper like party streamers.

I miss the office restroom so much. This is the only place in the building I can run away from my manager.

I'd like to collaborate on ways to improve these typical work day jitters. Let's bump in the hallway to brainstorm.
