He referenced the MIT Living Wage calculator. If you look at the chart the living wage for 2 working adults in NYC with 2 children is $25.52.

Just plan on going back to the office temporarily. They are betting on people quitting rather than go back to the office - which would save even more $ vs laying people off. Easier to replace with cheaper labor too.
Stick it out and see what happens or until another job closer to home comes through. If he did say a family of four can live on $25/ hour - ask for a break down of the rent, car payment, utilities, food, insurance, clothes - and that would be after-tax take-home pay (plus any health insurance and retirement deductibles). Unless the family lives in a car and even that would be pushing it.
I get it they don't want to pay their employees a fair living wage but to make a comment like that would be a real cop out and thoughtless. Would you trust decisions to come from someone like that? Obviously that person does not have employees' interests in mind - just his own. Maybe he does deserve his fat paycheck. He gave up his soul for it.
I don't think owning buildings is why they are forcing us back in the office. A number of years ago the bank sold the campus on the Southside of Jacksonville. It went from Bank Of America to being called Gramecy Woods. Now most of the buildings are filled by other companies like Aetna.
My theory is the bank went from leasing to purchasing enormous buildings which they probably cannot sell now. So fill them with workers. That's why my site was shut down years ago, the lease was up. Nothing to do with performance.
What did he say about hybrid? I missed that. They need to act now because otherwise they will start losing more and more talent.
I don't have co workers where I office at. I am at least a 3 hour plane trip away from client. My wife works with covid patients daily in health care, Why would they want me to come in and be a carrier of covid while having no team building upside?,its id--tic. Just WFH and bank could save $50k a year on my office...

I told you people this CEO doesn't care. He makes millions per year but doesn't have a clue how the average american family can live off $25 per hour. He is totally clueless on handling the WFH issue and giving his employees a decent cost of living wage. He should just STEP DOWN ASAP!!!
