They told me my job was eliminated. Speaking with coworkers I left behind, it was obviously moved to India.

20+ years. Not one BE ever, suddenly one pops up in mid-term despite glowing review. Any 10 yr old can see that the review (lengthy one) with all superlative praises, listing achievements required an A+ and not a F unless BE stood for Beyond Expectations.
The one reason I got from my manager's manager (who was incidentally let go in the next round) was that he was scared about being challenged as the leader. Truth be told, I was questioning the operations and risk associated. The senior management was also scared (indispensable person , an advantage with zero/no documentation).
Insubordination. It was worth it.
Let go this morning. My position was "eliminated". They probably did me the biggest favor of my life.
I knew the real reason.
Didn't need to hear one.

They’re giving you excuses to cover their a-s legally. It’s obvious when they say your position is not needed then they report . BNYM is ran by douche bags who are greedy and who have absolutely no clue what we do or what is needed
I was told the same and if your manager did not at least give you one of many lame excuses then he or she is a-s wipe. Best thing that ever happened to me and I'm sure some of the work I did that they were able to outsource went to India. Fu-k em, I'm glad I'm out of that sh-t ho-e!
They aren't required to give a reason, so if you were given any reason at all, it's up to you whether to believe it or not. Layoffs are almost always done to reduce expenses, so yeah, they generally go for those who make more money... regardless of what you are told. (Which may or may not technically be true at that time)
They said my job was eliminated too. Three months later it was back open on the web site. Let me just say it was the best thing that happened. It is not the worst thing in the world. They lie and if you don't play in the sandbox your out. It will be ok.

I was told I was too old and useless. They also said the movie reviews that I was writing up after watching HBO all day were BE.
My manager said my position was eliminated too. Seemed pretty straight forward when I was the only one in the group that didn't kiss his a-s (among other reasons too)
Consider yourself lucky, the grass is much greener on the other side.
None and my senior manager wouldn't disclose when I asked why. It was obvious though they were targeting higher paid employees to can. My direct manager got let go too, and we ran the show.
