"Where is the Rob Twyman info coming from?"

From his post on LinkedIn announcing his leaving. Minardi and a bunch of others have been well-wishing him for the past day, so it's legit.

Our stl some other astl’s quit in our region why? I thought they got paid well? It came down to work and life balance you are on call 24hrs a day for what a bump in pay instead of tripling the salary from tl to cdastl ? They got them cheap . I least when I clock out I just worry about my happiness not waiting to be called in for 12 hour shift.

The astl’s and store support team members will be gone or severely reduced we have long lines everyday and the astl’s just yell at team members demanding more.We will go cashier less but not atl or tl.Astl’s are high priced for what amazon gets in return.
They promoted a lot from cdastl and the mostly quit and profits are not enough to balance those salaries.

Whole Foods tried combining teams a few years ago. It didn’t work because the systems were not in place to merge the teams, yet.
But now the necessary changes are happening and I think they will once again try merging teams.

Team Leaders will need to be strong “yes
People” in order for change to happen. There are too many TLs that think they can keep doing things the old way. I see them being weeded out and replaced.

Everything will be automated that can be automated. Buyers will eventually be replaced, but I don’t think that will happen for a while. There are still too many bugs to work out for automated purchasing to work.

Whatever is coming, it is guaranteed to NOT be to worker’s benefit.

I completely agree with the last post. I think the way whole foods was structured was to legit retain people

But honestly the business end of the company was run so poorly that they literally never made money so they had to pad the books and beg Amazon to buy them

Now it will run like a normal grocery store where retention is actually not in anyone’s best interest. Not the company or the employee

Conventional grocery stores do not have TLs for every department. Deli and bakery are one department, li---r and cheese is under the grocery “umbrella” as is general merchandise (whole body).
They also don’t have ATLs.
They usually have 1manager and 1 assistant manager.
They have “key holders” or “persons in charge”, which would be the equivalent of shiftys to fill in the gaps.
There are lots of opportunities for reducing the labor.

i definitely see them opening more amazon fresh locations and letting wholefoods wither a bit-the fresh gives them merchandise flexibility and labor cost more consisten with the industry...how many times a week do you have to tell a customer that "we do not sell coca-cola"??? ASTL's going to hourly and having to actually be a floor presence versus a office creeper for sure...ive worked on several teams with 2 or 3 atl's that many did overlapping duties or redundant duties when the "business needs" really required more boots on the floor doing the daily grind...all of those teams could have functioned with a TL and ATL with better labor for floor staffing and 1 or 2 supervisors...look for A.I. or new software to eliminate some office bloat also....loving regional guys having to come back to stores and suffer with their consequences...

my guess is that they wont outright fire people and have to pay UI , etc. But they will consolidate and basically force people out

personally i dont see the need to have 3 supervisors per department so i see that changing FOR SURE. probably making ASTL's hourly and ATL's do less computer work and more floor work. if you look at how amazon runs its core businesses there is a contrast to how WF is used to doing stuff so that should show you were everything is headed

  • no more calling out forever
  • no more putting up with slackers
  • no more 3 supervisors per department (especially since its not working out)
  • they will probably tone down all the fluff and gimmicks that whole foods has (wow bucks)
  • they will more than likely convert some WF locations to Amazon Fresh
  • restructure regional teams

those are my guesses for now. basically if you have been here for a while then the outlook isnt good
