The ‘bank’ has too many managers who are not actually managers. They are a waste of money whose sole purpose is to take credit and place blame and to make sure their names are brought up in a negative light. It’s a sick culture.

Hmmm, @9lhl. I wonder who is responsible for hiring and firing shi-t employees who don’t know anything and don’t do anything.
As a manager I say the same about shi-t employees who don’t know anything and don’t do anything .
I believe you meant too much BAD management.
The management team is a JOKE.
Too little management. Too many managers.
Read an interesting Atlantic article yesterday about the high cost of management bureaucracy in corporate America (i.e., inertia). And, yes, The Atlantic tends to skew to a liberal POV, but if you actually read the article, the author's points really resonate. Most (not all, but most) of management are glorified hall monitors who are not skilled or empowered to coach talent or teams to a state of flourishing, and the bureaucracy of a top-heavy organization structure of many companies (including BNYM, IMO) impedes progress and growth.

As a manager, my goal is to try to make things better for me or my team every day, usually that means trying to automate more tedious things or helping to build skills of the team. But I find I’m all on my own and don’t really get any help from up above. The only time I usually hear from above is if something goes awry or if there is something great that happens, it’s either ignored or responded with something that could’ve been better.
